Compare And Contrast Hatchet And A Cry In The Wild
To begin with, Hatchet does a better job explaining the story because it gives more descriptive details. Also, Hatchet stays on the same page, in order, throughout the book, while, “A Cry In The Wild,” goes randomly through important details. Plus, Hatchet has less special effects and more real life situations than “A Cry In The Wild.” “A Cry In The Wild” looks like his mom gives him a hatchet and puts him on a plane with a guy that has bad medical records. She wants him to survive in the wilderness because she wants to be alone with the man in the “tennis” shirt. In the movie, he is just wearing a regular shirt, and in the book, he is supposedly wearing a tennis shirt, but Hatchet hides this event, but the cover of the book gives away the
fact that he must survive in the wild with only a hatchet (spoiler alert).
Finally, The novel has better foreshadowing and imagery because it never gives away anything easily, but the movie gives away events easily, like when Brian saw the bear eating something out of a big piece of wood, and it automatically tells you that he is going to try what the bear is eating. All in all, the literature form of Hatchet is better than the visual form of Hatchet by a thousand miles (The book is better in the movie).
