Junior Final : Comparing two writers There are many different writing styles that have been popular over the years. From William Bradford writing about puritans and the Mayflower Compact, all the way to Edgar Allan Poe writing fictional horror stories use the gothic writing of his time. Each writing has their own unique writing techniques that make their story different than another writer. A writer's style could be connected to their ideology in many different ways. Some of the two better known authors of their time are Edgar Allan Poe who is famous for many poems and short stories, but one of his best works would be the raven and William Bradford who wrote the Mayflower Compact and Plymouth Plantation. These two authors may seem very different,
which they are, but you would be surprised how similar they could be viewed. Edgar Allan Poe was as dark and mysterious as his writing, his parents died when he was a young child. He was a dunkard who would often get in trouble with the police officers. In Baltimore there was a newspaper that offered 100$ for the best poem and short story sent in, Poe won both of there. It was very obvious that he was a fantastic writer, yet a very sad man. On January 1845, Poe wrote one of his more famous works, The Raven. The Raven was a poem that was a horror poem/short story that had an eerie feel the the whole poem. Poe’s writing style was set in stone after a few poems and short stories , he was a fantastic American Romance and Gothic writer. Poe died on October 7, 1849. His cause of death is still a mystery to this very day. Bradford was a most known for his writing of Plymouth Plantation. This journal is valued as one of the most accurate descriptions of founding of Plymouth. The journal provided historians with very accurate details of the founding of plymouth and the hardships that the puritans had to go through to live there. Bradford wrote non-fictional accounts of the world that was happening around him with the puritans simple life. Poe wrote fictional horror stories, while Bradford wrote about the lives of puritans. THeir writing seem very different even though they are similar. They both suffered a hard life to achieve what they thought of as success.
