Compare And Contrast Mexico And Islam

It is so easy to set ourselves apart from other cultures, ideas, and beliefs. Many times we do this almost as a way to keep our guard up from something we sometimes have little to no understanding of. Our ideas and concepts of other cultures are so heavily influenced and shaped by our mainstream media that we feel we know everything there is to know, but unless you have done your own research or had a first hand experience, the fact of the matter is we do not. While every culture is unique in its own way, we are all not so different no matter where you are from. I will show you what I mean by this by comparing and contrasting the two distinct cultures; Mexican and Islam. Mexico and Islam are two distinct cultures composed of unique traditions
To many Muslims, Islam is a lifestyle guided by God which is why so many Muslims believe that the Islamic teachings also cover the guidelines to other aspects of society such as politics, economics, and culture just to name a few. Many devoted Muslims will live their lives to the Islamic faith standard which may often times reflect back to other outside societies as strict or extreme. An example would be how in Islamic culture women must often times adjust their wardrobe to accommodate to the social standards of their faith. Even through the extreme, and hot weather, women must cover up their entire body only exposing their beauty to their father or husband. Arabic was the founding language of Islam, in modern day Islam but what we come to realize is that Arabic is no longer the universal language spoken by all Muslims. Muslims will recite and read the Quran in Arabic but their common everyday languages will consist of the environment in which they live. Believers in the Islamic faith are heavily spread out all over the middle east, with Indonesia holding the world’s largest Muslim population according to Pew Research Center in their article “Muslims and Islam: Key Findings in the U.S. and around the world.” Islam like Mexico, has a their own holidays but while Mexican holidays are more so based off of mythology and beliefs, Muslim celebrations are based off of their religious beliefs. For example the Muslim holiday, Eid al-Adha is to honor Abraham, a Biblical character, and his willingness to sacrifice his young, first born son as an act of loyalty and devotion to
