There are many differences between middle school and high school. Transitioning between the two schools can be intimidating yet impelling for many people. Shifting from middle school to high school is a big change for many students. Compared to middle school, high school has a bigger size, more classes, and gives people more independence.
Middle schools and high schools have different sizes. Most middle schools are combined by surrounding elementary schools while high schools are combined by middle schools. Because high schools are combined of middle schools, they have a much larger size. Being in a much bigger school, students meet new people and have more opportunities. High schools usually have a lot more rooms and offer many classes.
Middle schools and high schools are different in the classes they offer. Middle schools have core classes that are required to take and usually don’t have many other classes to choose from. A lot of middle schools and high schools have the same types of core classes; however, these classes get more challenging in high school. High schools offer many more classes in addition to the required classes; this way students get more classes to choose from. In middle school many teachers make students have their parents to sign over their homework to show they saw it. In high school, teachers don’t have students to get their parents signatures over homework or report cards. High school gives students a lot more independence than they had in middle school. When students get to high school they grow a lot by being able to do more school activities, receiving their license, and getting jobs. When students get their license they get to go out and do more such as getting a job and working or participating in different activities through

I see high school as deeper work, more responsibility, and more homework. The teachers are a lot harder on you. In high school, you get more freedom than in middle school because you’re older. There is harder work because the standards are higher. There is more responsibility because the teachers think you can do it and you have to keep up with more books and stuff.…

According to a study conducted by EducationNext, “moving to middle school leads to a substantial drop in student test scores in the first year of the transition, and the relative achievement of middle-school students continues to decline in the subsequent years they spend in such schools.” One aspect of the educational system that I think can be vastly improved is middle school. Although middle schoolers are faced with numerous challenges, the middle school curriculum does not allow students to explore their interests and more importantly, doesn't challenge students enough. In middle school, there is not a lot of advanced coursework that students can complete. This is why I believe that middle school students should have the opportunity to take a more strenuous curriculum by allowing them to take high school classes, as this system will give students the curriculum that they need to succeed and it will give them an abundance of time to explore their interests.…

High school classes might have seemed better in the past compared to college. You might feel more comfortable in smaller classes than you would heading off to university, but that is simply from the comfort of your surroundings. You are familiar with your teachers and your closest friends are always by your side. This might create a friendlier environment, but branching away from the only things you have ever known will help you grow as an individual. Leaving home to start your life as an adult can be tough; however, learning every day responsibilities and making new relationships are two things that will benefit anyone who is getting ready to enter the “real world.” Students benefit more from college classes over high school classes because they learn responsibilities and create new relationships which help them to gain independence.…

Middle school was both exciting and frightening. It was exciting because I was able to switch classes and it made me feel older, however it was frightening because I had to impress more than one teacher and adjust to their teaching methods. The first day of middle school was different because that year my father could not see me off to school. My father died unexpectedly a few weeks before my first day of middle school which only added to the stress. Overall my first day was still pretty exciting because I knew I was going to meet new people. I was excited to see some of my old friends in the same class with me. I thought the work was going to harder since I was older, but it was not much different from elementary.…

Each school is different, but there are some attributes of change that are common in most school systems. Usually the most obvious transition is going from one building to another. This new building is usually larger because different elementary schools are feeder schools to the middle school meaning it is larger and includes more students. This may be problematic for students with certain disabilities due to crowding, noise level, or mobility issues. Also, middle school becomes less personal. During the elementary school year, the students become more accustom to one or two teachers and familiar group of students. The classrooms are more structured, and the students are escorted by the teacher to various activities (Gilewski & Nunn 2016). However, in middle school they take classes from several different teachers, with several different students, and they are expected to get their materials and get themselves to classes on time. The academic content in middle school varies from that of the elementary school. The classes become more demanding and they cover more content. The student is more responsible for organizing and prioritizing. Scheduling can be as simple or complex as a school tends to make it. Without the assistance of an aide,…

High school is a different experience for everyone. The first three years really blend together and do not seem important, but senior year is completely different. Freshman year was full of confusion, learning an array of new things. Sophomore year was where life started to get fun and you “belonged” in the high school. Junior year was where you see the little light at the end of the tunnel, but it was filled with anxiety and frustration. Senior year is where it all becomes worth it and the rest of your life is finally going to begin.…

Middle school was an adventure of awkwardly dressing and thinking you are cooler than you actually are. I remember growing up hearing the horror stories of that age and how hard seventh grade was compared to everything we have ever faced before. Seventh grade was the glory year. I hated my science teacher with a passion due to her non caring attitude, but I loved my English teacher. The best part of the entire year, was lunch.…
