The National Collegiate Athletic Association was formed in 1906 as non-profit organization with the purpose of protecting students and setting official guidelines for sports. Since the formation of the NCAA in 1906, there has always been controversy of whether sports should be associated with universities and colleges. There have been numerous arguments attacking the NCAA suggesting that student-athletes are merely moneymakers for the institutions, rather than students, by earning millions of dollars in revenue each year in this commercialized industry. Academic enthusiasts contribute to the argument by emphasizing the importance of more money being invested into the athletic department rather then other departments throughout the school. However, these cons of the NCAA are heavily out weighed by the pros, as it’s proven that once schools enter the big time sports of NCAA they rarely leave it. Coltfelther supports this theory as he states that of the top 100 schools playing football in 1920, only…

UTC has a student body population of 8,656, whereas UTK is that of 30,000. Because UTK is more populated, their student/teacher ratio isn’t as low as that of UTC. UTC has a student/teacher ratio of 18:1, which makes it easier for professors to interact with their students. The professors at UTC are very friendly and actually know students by name, which is very rare in most colleges. At UTC, tutors are offered in all departments of studies. These tutors can be your peers, your professors or even students who are in a higher level of the class that you are having trouble in.…

Tufts is essentially an intellectual and social paradise. Can I take courses called "How to Sell Drugs" and "Dope Fiends, Addicts and Junkies", in the same semester, anywhere else? Does any other university give a research award for making the library my second home? Where else is expressing your personality and being professional mutually inclusive? Could I not take a break from studying by running in a Zombie 5K? Life at Tufts would be perfect: an unparalleled education, spontaneous adventures and on-campus celebrations, collaborative innovation, and being part of an amazing and diverse family of scholars and friends.…

At universities there is much less one on one time. Classrooms and lectures are fully crowded with hundreds of students per one teacher. I have friends that go to Kansas State University and I always hear them talking about how they can never get ahold of their teacher, or their teacher is too busy with other people to help them. I would hate that because if I pay to go to school then I want a good education.…

Some people like big classes but I prefer smaller class size. The social environment of the university and class size is amazing. Fewer students per class makes it easy for me to associate with the professors at personal level. This will contribute to motivation on my side as a student. I always want to share my problems with someone who can help and this is what professors at UC will provide to me. I believe that with encouragement from professors and staff members, I will be able to better improve myself both in academic study and personal growth. Leaving the community college will provide me with an avenue to engage in research carried out in the undergraduate school which is not available in the community college. In addition, the community…

While WBT and ILT have similarities, they have differences as well. One of these differences is in the way the course is delivered. WBT is offered online, in a multimedia format where the student sits solo in front of a computer and interacts only with the content. ILT takes place in a classroom, where students receive lectures, ask questions of the instructor, and engage in discussions. A further difference is in the learning environment, including when the learning takes place. WBT is held at any time, at any place, on a computer with an internet connection. Not all students learn at the same pace, or at the same time (asynchronous). However, ILT is scheduled, and directed, and class start and end times are based on availability of faculties and instructor.…
