Red pandas resemble raccoons and because of that, red pandas are about 42 inches long, including the long, bushy tail. The red panda has soft thick fur that's a rich reddish brown above the black fur underneath. The face is white, with a stripe of reddish brown from each eye to the corners of the mouth, and the bushy tail is red with a little white at the end. The tail 30 to 50 cm long. They weigh between seven and 14 pounds. Their soft, dense fur covers their entire body, even the bottom of their feet. Red pandas use their long, bushy tails to balance themselves when they're in trees. They also cover themselves with their tails in winter to keep warm. the red panda was known to be a relative of the giant panda family but now it is now usually classified as a member of the family Ailuridae.…
Bears can be found throughout the world. They are generally large animals, and are characterized by a plantigrade walk which is to walk on their heels like humans, a large body, short legs, a stub of a tail, small, round ears, and forward facing eyes. There are considered to be eight species of bear. The purpose of this essay is to compare and contrast the differences between the black bears and the sun bears. The three main differences are the place where it lives, the fur color and the food that it eats.…
With a touch of humor, geology, evolutionary theory, biology, cartoon characters and even some references to baseball, The Panda's Thumb definitely makes excellent reading for people with all types of interests. The old cliché, "Don't judge a book by its cover," or in this case, title, holds true for The Panda's Thumb. Theories concerning adaptations of the panda are only a fraction of the many exciting facts held within the pages of this publication. Gould is able to put what he writes about in words that are easy to understand without compromising the quality of the information. Many questions are raised in this book. Some questions that science just can't answer at the moment. Time is a major theme in some of the essays in The Panda's Thumb. I found these essays of utmost interest.…
Polar bears and brown bears are genetically closely related. This is evident from similarity of both species DNA and their their structure. Another indication of the close relationship between polar bears and brown bears is the fact that they can interbreed and produce crossbreed offspring. (poler bears and brown bears).…
The most recent change was the molar teeth. With this change the polar bear now has forty-two teeth that are much longer and larger than the regular brown bear which have flat rounded teeth. The interbreeding of grizzle bears and polar bears has created a new type of bear. Polar bears and grizzly bears are breading at an increased frequency due to global warming, which is slowly forcing the polar bears out their natural environment. This cross breading has been increasing as more brown bears have been spotted in polar bear territory and parts of Canada, the traits of this new hybrid bear consist of long dirty white fur, long claws, wider teeth, and a slightly larger head. In addition, this new hybrid demonstrates more similar behavior to polar bears than grizzle…
The main connection between "Endangered Pandas" and "Saving the Panda through Ecotourism" is about how pandas help the economy, how they help grow more bamboo, and how they are endangered. The first passage explains how mush it weighs, how much it can eat per day, and how lazy they are. Also, when a panda eats it is helping the environment as well. While the pandas eat, they spread bamboo seeds along the ground. The seeds help more bamboo trees grow, so the panda will not run out.…
First of all, the Red Panda and the Red Fox are quite similar but a little different in their appearance. Like the Red Fox, the Red Panda has four legs, two ears, a black nose and two eyes at the side of their heads. They also have a long bushy tails with which they keep themselves warm, like a cover, in winter. The Red Panda looks like a cat, while the Red Fox looks like a dog. The main colour of the fur of these two animals is red. The Red Panda has while fur on its cheeks, around its eyes, and has black fur from its neck to its feet. In contrast, the Red Fox has while fur from its neck to its stomach and has black fur on its ears.…
As implied by their name, red pandas are red and have white and black markings. Their legs and bellies are black and their tails are ringed. They even have fur on the soles of their feet, which helps them stay warm in the high altitudes where they live.…
Bears have undergone an interesting history as they evolved from their carnivorans ancestors. Bears have started out small and worked their way to the top of the food chain. Bears have so many adaptations that help them survive.…
Pandas have similar appearances to that of a bear and are known to originate from China. The pandas distinctiveness from ordinary bears are due to their predominate white fur body with black fur surrounding their eyes, ears, legs and shoulders (3, pg 1). An average panda can reach the length of three to four feet and weigh between 185 to 245 pounds (3, pg 1).…
Sometime during the mid-Pleistocene period (roughly 100,000 to 250,000 years ago), a number of brown(same as grizzly) bears (Ursos arctos) probably became isolated by glaciers. Many probably perished on the ice; however, they apparently did not all disappear. Some survived due to the fact that "organisms vary" (Gould, 1977); that is, every litter of grizzlies has a variation in coat thickness, coat color, etc., which imparted a slight evolutionary advantage to some individuals of each litter. Successive, successful individuals repeated this simple process, yielding a rapid series of evolutionary changes (driven, presumably, by the combination of small population, and extreme selection pressure) in order to survive. Note that these new variants were not necessarily "better" in any absolute sense, or on any absolute "bear" scale of perfection: they were simply more in keeping with their new environment than their immediate ancestors or their more unfortunate siblings. Today, polar bears are adapted to their harsh northern environment.…
Major themes in literature and art reappear throughout history. In most cases, the interpretation reflects the current social norms of the time. This can be seen through analysis of the play Hamlet by William Shakespeare, which reflects the Elizabethan time period, and the movie The Lion King by Walt Disney, an animated modern version of Hamlet, which mirrors the current era. Each piece of literature is formatted around the same plot. In general, an uncle kills his brother and takes over the thrown. The Uncle then sends the king’s son away to be killed, but he survives. After an internal struggle, the son returns to reclaim the thrown, and the uncle is murdered. Comparison of paralleled characters in Hamlet and The Lion King represent, among other things, the changing perception of culture from England’s sixteenth century to America’s twentieth.…

There are so many nice places scattered across the country. Every place has its own distinct features. I have visited so many places of scenic beauty and tourist interest. But the visit which has a lasting impression on my mind is the visit of Sarawak’s Mount Mulu National Park. It is the most beautiful place I have ever seen. It is said to be the heaven on earth. It has the accolade of being “the most spectacular caves on earth”. The complex network of vast caves were formed over millennia the flow of water draining from the slopes of Mount Mulu towards the sea has cut deep gorges through the Park’s limestone mountains and, within the rock itself. I was wonderstruck to see the ravishing beauty of the Mulu Caves. Mount Mulu National Park is one of the most bewitching places on earth. It has been a great attraction for the tourists all across the country and abroad as well.…
