This couple, Jim and Della, are not rich with worldly possessions, but they are rich…
The French Revolution, the 1848 Women's Suffrage movement, and Shay’s Rebellion are all prime examples of people unifying to fix issues they see in their lives. Oscar Wilde claims that progress is made through rebellion and disobedience, in the 21st century the latter is prominent. Historically social progress has been made through group rebellion and occasionally violence, however following the civil war, that has changed. Progress can no longer be endorsed factionally, it is necessary instead for an individual to make their mark and allow reform to follow them like a trend. To fully understand the idea of individually led progress it is important, initially, to understand the relevance of trends and the different categories they subject themselves…
Likewise, Jim and Della both gave up their prized possessions to give the other happiness. When Della asked Mrs.Sofronie “Will you buy my hair”(O’Henry). Della would do anything to get jim the perfect gift for christmas when she sold her hair. When Jim said “Della let’s put our christmas gifts aside keep them a while, they are too nice to use (O’Henry). It did not matter that they sold their most precious items to get each other a gift for Christmas.…
I am writing about how the Andy Griffith Show and The Monsters are alike and different. You may also say compare and contrast. I am going to compare and contrast six things about them. Those things will be setting, mood, irony, theme, complications, and conflict. The setting is where and when, the mood is the feeling, irony is the opposite, theme is the main idea, complications are the obstacles to overcome, and conflict is the problem.…
In all of the movies that we had watched in class, Aladdin and The Little Mermaid has the best relationship between comparing and contrasting. In both of the movies, there is one daughter in each movie who rebelled to find their true love. In The Little Mermaid, Ariel rebelled and went to the surface to search for her prince, but in Aladdin, Jasmine rebelled the law by not accepting the prince who came to see if she's the right girl for them. Not only the daughters whom rebelled, but, the main villain in each of the movies also share a similarity for how they hunger for power. Although the villain may grew into a giant monster, they were too obsessed with their power that they didn't realize what kind situation they were in.…
The Wizard of Oz, by L. Frank Baum tells the tale of a young girl Dorothy as she wanders through the land of Oz. In the original movie adaptation, Dorothy kills the Wicked Witch of the East causing the Wicked Witch of the West to avenge her sister by making Dorothy pay. The Wicked Witch of the West has become a common archetype for the definition of a “wicked witch” with her long nose, green skin, and black hat. Both the novel and movie portray the witch as an evil relentless character to be disliked by the readers and viewers. However, Holzman and Schwartz's Wicked, creates a different portrayal of the witch as a poor girl whose struggle with relationships and friends led her to a life of anger and caused her to become the figure described in Baum's…
For young girls growing up watching Disney movies, there is usually a classic plot of the princess or young girl wanting more out of life and using marriage to a prince to achieve their goal. However some of the more recent Disney films strive to change this and make a difference in terms of empowering women. Some of these new films do a better job than others, while a few still fall back on the classic Disney fairytales where all the women can seem to do is wait around for their prince to save the day. Mulan, Enchanted, and The Princess and the Frog are all chances for Disney to showcase young women as powerful role models for all the young girls watching. These three films are some of the more modern Disney films, and they all make an attempt…
Phineas and Ferb: Season 3 Summer vacation is arguably the best time of year for students, and brothers Phineas and Ferb want to make the most out of their vacation. From constructing roller coasters that stretch across the Tri-State area to traveling back in time, these brothers have done it all. Viewers also enjoy a secret agent themed subplot starring a platypus and an evil scientist. Despite the fact that these two storylines seem nothing alike, they always meet in one way or another. In addition to different lifestyles, each episode presents different motifs that add to the consistency of the show.…
Like any popular epic, The Wizard of Oz has received multiple adaptations, including Oz The Great and Powerful, and like every adaptation, some things carry over and some things are changed. In Oz, the movie is a prequel to the original story and Dorothy does not appear at all, instead making the Wizard (Oscar) the main character. In the movie, the Witch of the West does not start off being wicked and the Witch of the East is still alive. In the book, the main character is Dorothy, a simple farm girl from Kansas, and she is accompanied by the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and Cowardly Lion. During The Wizard of Oz, Dorothy constantly wishes to go home and has her wish granted at the end, by clicking her heels together.…

The Magi story and the Sesame Street video are quite interesting when being compared and contrasted. While comparing these both stories all of the characters are poor, and cannot afford a Christmas present for one another. The stories are both similar in that the characters are all very determined to get each other the best present they could to show how much they cared for one another. Both stories include the characters sacrificing their most prized possessions to make each person happy. There are very few differences in these stories.…
While I was reading The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, I saw there were some between the novel and movie. The two main differences between the novel and movie were that there was more violence in the novel than the movie and also in the novel, it was all a dream for Dorothy. The novel is a children’s book, but there was violence in it. The text talked about how the TinWood Man saved the Queen Mouse by killing the wildcat. In the movie, the Tin Man did not hurt a fly at all.…
