As with Joseph Campbell, the monomyth pattern is seen in many movies and books. Stories in which the protagonist goes through struggles that are often unfair, but through hard work and faith they prevail and come out on top. They get knocked down, but they get back up. Three stories that repear this plot are Homer’s Oddyssey, Rocky, and Starwars. In Odyssey, Oddyseus is a leader of a tough war against the Trojans, where he comes out victorious. Star Wars vs Star Trek is a rivalry that has been going on since 1977 when Star Wars released A New Hope in theaters. Although Trekkies seem to believe that Star Trek is better than Star Wars, they would be wrong. Star Wars The Force Awakens broke the box office record and has a net worth of $1.783 billion, while Star Trek’s highest net worth is only $282 million. Darth Vader is the greatest cinematic villain of all time, bar none. Star Trek's Khan was, in all fairness, one of the best as well. But a plastic-chested, Shakespeare-quoting Ricardo Montalban or venom-spewing Benedict Cumberbatch can't hold a lightsaber to Vader. Star Wars also has better weapons, Star Wars’ lightsaber, a pulsating beam of light that is a sword that slices through…

*HELLO THERE* No of us are truly open minded, despite what we might try, our receptiveness to new discoveries is determined by the effect our personal context has had on what we value, providing the lens through which we perceive discovery. In particular, personal context can influence the values of an individual to create barriers to discovery. This is evident in both Star Wars Episode III, Revenge of the Sith, and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley. Anakin faces a barrier to discovery due to his context lending him a desperation to have the power to safeguard his loved ones.…

Heroes often have a tragic flaw that can lead to their downfall. In the case of Macbeth from The Tragedy of Macbeth, by William Shakespeare, and Anakin Skywalker, from Star Wars Episode Three: Revenge of the Sith, by George Lucas, this tragic flaw is ambition. Macbeth is a heroic soldier, as well as the Thane of Glamis, at the beginning of the play. Anakin is a loyal Jedi. Both of these noble war heroes are destroyed by this tragic flaw and turn to a murderous evil. Coincidently, they are also both motivated by the same factor, their wives.…

Religious Believers have a better understanding of how the universe and mans place in it was set up, but it's hard for people to understand correctly because it's not in scientific terms, it's in myths and metaphors. You can't see it with our available scientific instruments, it's something you experience. Religious Believers have direct guidance from their Holy texts, e.g. for the Jewish faith, the Torah on how to live their life. They are taught, by the Ten Commandments, that they are not to steal, not to commit adultery and not to murder.…

Young men who are sent to a war learn the reality in a very harsh and brutal way. Both the stories, ‘The Red Convertible’ and ‘The Things They Carried’ portray the life of a young soldier and how he psychologically gets affected from all the things he had seen in the war. Tim O’Brien’s ‘The Things They Carried,’ is more specific on the experiences of a soldier during a war where as Karen Louise Erdrich focuses more on describing the post war traumatic stress in her short story ‘The Red Convertible’. One thing similar in both the narrations is the Vietnam War and its consequences on the soldiers. From the background of both the authors it’s easy to conclude that Tim O’Brien being a war veteran emphasizes more on the war scenes where as Louise Erdrich focuses mainly on the life inside the reservations, which makes sense as she has a Native American ancestry.…

The human condition, the ongoing balance between good and evil inside people and their environment. This balance and struggle between the three areas affect personal, emotional, spiritual and mental growth. Similarly, humans illustrate a balance between aggression, selfishness, and lust mixed with compassion, love, trust, and hope. Humans allow for this equilibrium of an imperfect balance between good and evil. Similarly, No one’s inherently good nor inherently evil, instead attitude, purpose, and thought often determine whether people respond negatively or positively to both celebrations and/or tragedies. Therefore, The Human Condition balances both good and evil, while good and evil both exist on their own.…
