There are no facts supporting the statement that “you cannot learn as much online as in a classroom”. Everyone has their own needs for learning some people do better online in the privacy of their home where there are not any distractions, and some people need have face to face interaction in order to learn. Some people who are in online classes may learn more than those who are in a classroom. In today’s world it is an unspoken requirement that anybody who wishes to succeed must have a college degree. This means physically going to a college classroom or attending school online. Because of the sink or swim economy, it is not always possible to give up a job, or leave your family behind to go to a four year university full time. For those people, online schooling is the best option to obtain higher education. Online schooling is simple in some ways, in other ways it is more difficult, but overall it is incredibly beneficial.…
While online classes are a part of many colleges, there is intense debate over whether they should be incorporated into high school education. The advocates of online education key in on the convenience, flexibility, self direction, cost savings, safety, creativity, pacing aspect and access to resources. Those opposed to online classes feel that online education is driven solely by budget cuts and the result is a cheaper education that has less guidance, lacks the social aspect, has accreditation issues and as a result, less beneficial to the students. Others think that blended learning which combines virtual education and face-to-face instruction is the most effective route, but possibly not the most cost effective.…

Traditional classrooms allow interaction with other students and the teacher or instructor. However, in online classes, you’re only another name on the list. In a traditional classroom, if you are having a problem with the assignment or trouble understanding, you can go straight to the teacher for help. You can also ask your classmates for help if the teacher is busy. With online classes, you’d have to e-mail your teacher for help. It’s no guarantee that you’d get a reply immediately. Your teacher could be without Internet connection for a period of time. In such case, you would not be able to get your answers. You also don’t get any interaction with other students taking the same class, which can leave you stuck and on your own. The interaction that a traditional classroom has can…
It seems that technology is growing, improving, and changing at an exponential rate. Technology now affects every part of our lives from the time we get up to the time we go to bed, and even as we sleep. One of the major areas that has been affected by technology is education. At one time, the only option for students to complete their education was in a traditional classroom setting. There has become a major need for non-traditional education because there has been a growth in the amount of non-traditional students that exist in our society. The advancement of technology has recently allowed for education to be completed in an online setting instead of in a traditional classroom setting. Online education is an effective and comparable alternative to a traditional classroom setting, and it can be a great opportunity for a non-traditional student to further his or her education and become one step closer to being a successful, self-sufficient individual.…

There are similarities in a traditional classroom and an online setting, however, I will identify the primary differences amongst the two. An online setting allows you more flexibility. It allows you to read and write at your own pace. You do not have to worry about rushing to get dressed for class, finding a baby sitter, deal with finding a parking space, driving to school, carrying a text book from one class to the next, or sitting in a classroom for hours. In addition, you do not have to be in a seat at a particular time (Chambers, 2016). An online setting allows you to take your time to complete assignments so whether you are working on an assignment, you have at your convenience to stop and take a restroom break or lunch break. Also, you have at your convenience to pause lectures and go back to replay lectures at your leisure versus at a traditional setting, if you step out of the classroom for a second you may have missed something important.…

There is no right or wrong way to get an education it is all based on ones learning preferences. The “anytime, anywhere” aspect of online learning is the most significant advantage over traditional classroom (Arbaugh, 2004:171, cited by Brandon & Hollingshead, 1999; Dede, 1991; Harasim, 1990). Learners can process material at any time from any place (Paechter & Maier, 2010:296, citied by Artino & Stephens, 2009; Narciss et al, 2007). For students who cannot afford to take away from their time-dependent jobs, online programs provide flexibility in time and pace of study so that they are able to work meanwhile maintaining the universities’ academic commitment (Sharpe & Benfield, 2005; Conrad & Donaldson, 2004; Kruger-Ross & Waters, 2013). Moreover, by accessing a learning management system such as Moodle, Blackboard, course website, students can achieve clarity about their course information like assignments, test dates to the full extent (Kruger-Ross & Waters, 2013:181). On the other hand, online learning could be time-consuming…
Both types of education allow prospective students to improve their learning skills and further their education by having options available to fit their needs. Online education is for the nontraditional student that may be employed outside of the home or a homemaker that takes care of the family. Online education offers flexible courses that can be taken from the comfort of the home or during travel. Taking online courses from home allows a student to cut living expenses that would go toward living in a dorm, travel expenses, and food expenses. If a student is employed, they can take classes online that allows the student to work at their own pace and on their own schedule. Although the online education seems like more freedom and an easier way to obtain a degree, the online education world takes far more discipline and the responsibility to thrive in the class work falls solely on the student. It is up to the student to participate and build relationships with the class mates. Traditional education is for the traditional student…
Traditional classes are based on courses, and it let individual to organize better, and learn in the better environment. Traditional classes have their policies, and procedures. In the classroom students are forced to be quit, and listen to the teacher or classmates. Students do not have many options besides learning. It is against the rule to sleep, eat and text during the class period. With the rules in the classroom, students are far less distracted, and will learn much more than online classes. Online students can violet any of the above mentioned rules because there will be no guidance, and their chance of focusing on learning is very low.…
