The Cold War and The War on Terror are also similar in some ways as well. The US had a common goal in both wars, stop the spread of communism and stop the spread of terrorism. In the War on Terror most Americans can identify the nations and countries that sponsor terrorism. Speaking of the cold war brought silence and tension to the room and speaking of the War on Terror brings about a similar response today.
