The second chipboard vocabulary project was to represent three vocabulary terms, two of which were chosen, in my case abstraction and hierarchy, and the third given, contrast. The constraints of this assignment were similar to the constraints of the first chipboard vocabulary project, where 4 .5x.5 open cubes, 1 1.5x1 open cube, 2 1x1 cube, and 5 lines were allowed on a 10x10 square. However, in this project, a wildcard object was allowed.
The first step in the assignment was to brainstorm potential ideas and iterations of design over the break.
Next was to create a full scale top view orthographic projection of the idea onto a green sheet.
Then, a full green sheet was created with top, side, and front views
of the idea were drafted in half scale, and an axonometric view of the idea was drafted in quarter scale. This was the most difficult step in the assignment for me, as without a 3D model in sketchup, or the already built model like in the first chipboard model project, it was difficult to visualize what the idea would look like, particularly the axonometric view.
