Compare And Contrast The Four Air Masses Of America
An air mass is a body of air that has the same temperature and humidity all around. There are four air masses and two different kinds. The four air masses over america are the polar continental, the polar maritime, the continental tropical, and the maritime tropical. The two different kinds of the air masses are the colder air masses and the more hot air masses. The colder air masses are the polar maritime and the polar continental. Then the two hot air masses are the maritime tropical and the continental tropical. Both of these are closer to the equator Than the colder air masses that are usually up in the north.

Fronts are made when air masses collide and create weather. There are four different fronts that are formed in different ways.

Much of the weather that the British Isles are subjected to is brought along by one of the five major air masses which affect the islands from five main source areas. The air masses can be split into two categories: maritime and continental. The three maritime air masses – tropical, polar and arctic – and their influences tend to dominate British weather. The most frequent of all the air masses affecting the Isles is the Polar Maritime (PM) air mass, which is thought to account for 25% of weather experienced in the UK. The air starts off very cold and dry in its source area of Northern Canada and Greenland, but as it tracks west across the relatively warm waters of the North Atlantic Ocean, it warms from below and picks up moisture, becoming unstable. These wet, unstable characteristics bring cumulus clouds and showers throughout the year, particularly along the west coast of Britain, where the air mass first hits. The cooling effect of the sea brings below average temperatures of just 16⁰C in the summer, and conversely, the warming effect brings highs of around 8⁰C in the winter. The arctic maritime air mass is very similar to the PM; however, due to its shorter track over the sea, it brings much colder conditions, often responsible for winter snowfall, especially in…

    8. The three abiotic spheres are the Atmosphere, Hydrosphere and the Lithosphere. Each one of these spheres interacts with each other and the biosphere in unique and different ways. The atmosphere works with the biosphere in that it uses the gases released from living things to form itself. It also receives gases from the Lithosphere, or the earths crust to help form itself. The atmosphere helps all living things survive by keeping an oxygen rich environment and keeping out harmful rays from the sun. The lithosphere helps control the movement of heat from within the earths crust to help make it possible for life to survive. It also is part of the soil layer which is essential to plant life. The Hydrosphere is very important because it has all the water on earth. This is in the form of ice sheets, liquid or vapor, and they are all essential to the survival of living things.…

Between these three regions, there are various similarities and differences. All three regions are patriarchal in society, meaning men are above women. All three also have slaves and the poor at the bottom of the hierarchy. However, a difference was the “form” of slavery. In Europe and Asia, there are several forms, one of them being serfdom, while serfdom does not exist in the Americas. Another difference was the social class hierarchy of the Americas, under the Spanish.…

Explain what causes the "sea breeze" and "land Breeze". A “sea breeze” forms during the day as the land heats more quickly than the near by water which creates a shallow thermal low (warm air rising over land). The air remains cool over the water, which creates a shallow thermal high. (cool air sinking). The high pressure moves toward the low pressure and creates a wind that blows from the water to the land.…

There are four main regions in the United States like: Northeast, Midwest, South, and the West. Each region has different jobs, foods, religions, and style of clothing, customs, music, sports, and much more. Also, some regions can have some similarities.…

    Introduction to Rain

The major cause of rain production is moisture moving along three-dimensional zones of temperature and moisture contrasts known as weather fronts. If enough moisture and upward motion is present, precipitation falls from convective clouds (those with strong upward vertical motion) such ascumulonimbus (thunder clouds) which can organize into narrow rainbands. In mountainous areas, heavy precipitation is possible where upslope flow is maximized within windward sides of the terrain at elevation which forces moist air to condense and fall out as rainfall along the sides of mountains. On the leeward side of mountains, desert climates can exist due to the dry air caused by downslope flow which causes heating and drying of the air mass. The movement of the monsoon trough, or intertropical convergence zone, brings rainy seasons to savannah climes.…
