This movie is definitely worth seeing if one is a big fan of the book. Although the movie has a lot of differences from the book, Luhrmann
does a great job making the book come alive in this film. People should see this movie because it is filled with colors that the readers of the book would not imagine. The background music to scenes are relevant, modern, and fits the story. The acting is done very well, especially by Leonardo DiCaprio (Gatsby), Tobey Maguire (Nick), Carey Mulligan (Daisy), and Elizabeth Debicki (Jordan). One weakness is that it may be a little too colorful at times that it seems almost magical and non realistic. Other than that, it had many strengths such as the acting. This film does mirror the novel. It has a lot of differences but not many. Some of the differences might make it seem like it does not give Fitzgerald justice though. This film would be rated 4 out of 5 stars.
