Compare And Contrast The Great Gatsby Movie Vs Book
The most popular movies are often based off of successful best seller books. When books become very popular they are often turned into a movie. Movie producers can predict by the success of book sales if a movie is worth creating. Readers spend their money on books to commit time into reading it, similarly to a movie audience. The movie audience spends their money on the ticket to watch the movie. Readers are likely to spend the money and time to watch a movie if they have read the book. I agree with the statement that movie-audience relationship has more in common with that of book than with that of television because if a certain type of audience is reading a book, that same audience is most likely going to watch the movie created from that book.
Most people who watch television watch it for two reasons, information such as the news or documentaries and mindless shows to waste time not thinking about anything else. While reading you are using your imagination and your brain to engage yourself into the book and think of the scenarios in real life. In television it is shown to you and there is not much room for imagination. Once you start a movie you are committing yourself to

From experience I really enjoyed reading the book The Great Gatsby. I had many images in my head that I thought the movie would portray in a certain way. While watching the movie I was disappointed. Although some scenes were similar to the way I had imagined, they also left some parts out. Most of the audience at the movies had read the book and knew what the story line was before entering into the movies. After talking to people who had read the book their reactions were similar to mine. I believe that the audience in the movie theater has much more in common to the readers of the book rather than the audience to television, mostly for the commitment to stay engaged until the

New version- The new version depicts Myrtle’s death. It is also a lot more cinematic about each scene. Two scenes are missing from the new movie that were in the old movie: Wilson showing up to Tom’s house looking for Gatsby, and the entirety of Gatsby’s dad showing up for Gatsby’s funeral. Acting in the new movie is somewhat better than the old version, but missed the emotional bits.…

There is a great deal of differences and similarities between the novel version and the movie version of “The Great Gatsby”. The novel version of The Great Gatsby is the more “official” version of the story. As we all know Hollywood likes to add somethings to their movies and make them more interesting. . Between the two versions there are plenty of similarities and differences which can be seen quite well. In the two versions we were introduced to the five main characters; Nick, Gatsby, Tom, Daisy, and Myrtle. While at the second party which Nick goes to, he is able to see Tom and Myrtle's affair present while they are in Myrtle’s apartment. One major thing I noticed was that the music in the film was not from the 20’s at all. In fact, it was rap music, which took away from just how 20’s Gatsby’s parties were. Though this may seem trivial, it makes an impact on how an audience member may see the story in its entirety, had the not read the novel previous…

In the film adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s “The Great Gatsby”, each character has their own differences and similarities. But the major changes shown in the film, are between the characters of Gatsby and Nick. The film’s take on these two characters stays within the style of the book, but some information about them are seen to be excluded in the film. Through the directing style of Baz Luhrmann, both Nick Carraway and Jay Gatsby are not portrayed in full as F. Scott Fitzgerald had written them as, even though they do share some traits with their counterparts.…

    F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby tells the tale of a tangled web of love, lies, and liquor in the roaring 20s. Since the book came out in 1925, there have been several filmed versions of the story. One in particular stands out from the rest. The 1974 version in which Robert Redford plays Jay Gatsby is one of the most notable renditions of the classic novel. It is presented in a way that is elegant, yet it is very relatable. There were significant differences between the novel and the film though, including Tom and Myrtle’s characters, Gatsby and Daisy’s relationship and portrayals and key elements of the story. These changes were detrimental to the perception of the story.…

Before the invention of television and film the art of story telling was restricted to theater and literature. Theater was and still is performed live by actors who tell some kind of story through their performance. But theater is still limited greatly in its ability to convey setting to the viewer. In order to fully grasp the power of any story one must believe, in a sense, that the events are happening before them. Literature is better able to accomplish this by utilizing the power of the human imagination. Even more than this literature has the ability to describe human emotion through the use of strong metaphors and colorful language. It is this technique of writing that remains unique to literature. Even film…

One of America’s most iconic novels, The Great Gatsby by F Scott Fitzgerald, was recently adapted into a film by the famous director Baz Luhrmann in 2013. I have personally read the book and seen the movie and can say that the film closely resembled the original book. The scenes, character descriptions, and conversations were, for the most part, spot on. Many of the differences were very minor and insignificant. Regardless of how similar the film and book were, film critics and viewers had mixed feelings towards the film. They questioned many of Luhrmann’s decisions and choices when it came to removing scenes and evoking emotions. Many people overlook the difficulty of creating a film adaptation of a book. These difficulties can range from…
