Compare And Contrast The North And South Before The Civil War

Have you ever wondered what life was like in the North and South before the civil war had been fought. I have done my research to tell you what it was like.The Northern economy was based off of industries for example some were fur, lumber, shipping, and textiles to name a few. There was a growth in trade and manufacturing of goods during this time. There were very few slaves in the North the work force was made up of mostly immigrants and at this time there were no child labor laws in place there were often working children to help provide. The working conditions were vary poor and dangerous so people often got killed in the factory trying to make there living. They had many schools and churches that were available to any one who wanted to or could go. There was about 88,000 miles of topped roads in the north this is because there was many large cities. The transportation in the north was railroads and canals. There was about 30,000 miles of railroad tracks in 1850. The climate in the North had very cold
The main one was that the South had Slaves and the North had free African Americans. The Amount of African Americans in the the South was in the millions it almost half the population of the South. Some of there pastimes the North pastimes were more civilized then there Southern counterpart. The amount of immigration in the North was high and therefore the immigration in the South was lower. The North had favored high tariffs and the South strongly disagree with having tariffs at all.

So in conclusion I have told you what it was like in the North and the South precivil war area. We all know how the war ends between the North and South. But have you ever thought about if the South had won the war. We all might be different or not here at all if the war was won. There might of still been slaves this might not even be a country if the South won. Any thing could of happened in the war but the North
