The renaissance is a when a new city is reborn. There were many great artist like Leonardo da Vinci, Raphael, Donatello, and Michelangelo. In my opinion the most significant artist was Leonardo da Vinci. One reason why is he was a significant artist was because he lived with only his father and this brought him to be the artist he was. I think this because in Leonardo’s DBQ it states “became an apprentice of Andrea del Verrocchio.”…
Once established, the thirteen British colonies could be divided into three geographic areas: New England, Middle, and Southern. Each of these had specific developments that were unique to the regions. Though there were many similarities in the development of the New England, Middle and Southern Colonies, they were very different: politically, socially, and economically.…
Essential Question: “How was the Northern Renaissance different from the Southern Renaissance?” AND “What attitudes and innovations did the Old world bring to the New, and how did these new interactions impact European life?”…

The Renaissance era believed to began in Italy at first and then it spread around the Northern Europe. During the period of 1650 and 1750, English colonies developed fast but into very different shapes in North America. There’re couples of reasons, concluding social, geographic, and economic conditions, for that. John Smith settled in Jamestown, which is a part of the southern colony, looking for gold, however, ends up by growing and trading tobacco to make money; John Winthrop came into New England, which is a part of the northern colony, for religious free; William Pann came into Pennsylvania to spread his thought of religious, Quaker.…
The Northern and Southern colonies were very different from each other. In the North, they didn’t have as much fertile land as the south so their economy was more based on natural resources, such as lumber and fish/whales. Also, the North had a plethora of ports in which they traded with Great Britain, while the south only had a few. The North had cold winters and bearable summers, the south was the exact opposite with hot summers and bearable winters. The geography of the North consisted of mountains thick with trees, rivers and poor rocky soil that was difficult to farm and unsuitable for crops.…
When both the Union (North) and the Confederacy (South) entered into war with each other, neither side was thoroughly prepared for battle. Both the North and the South had issues gathering enough resources and raising funds to support their war efforts (Goldberg, ed. 7, The American Journey, 405). However, the Union did have an advantage over the Confederacy. The North had a large population, strong political and military leadership, and plentiful resources; while the South struggled to piece together an entirely new government and army. This early upper-hand by the Union was what helped them eventually wear down the Southern troops at the end of the war and win.…
Prior to the Renaissance, the subject of most paintings and art was religion, focusing on portraying christian thoughts, values and symbolism. They were often painted to remind one of the importance of god and holding thoughts to him. Paintings prior to the renaissance were often out of proportion and did not look realistic.…
Before the Renaissance, art primarily focused on themes of faith and religion and was insignificant. As the Renaissance Era continued, however, art became more valued. As time progressed, only certain people could learn the skill of painting. In a book called The Book of Courtier, the writer, Castiglione, emphasizes, “children of gentle birth were required to learn painting at school, as worthy and necessary accomplishment. … a public law was passed forbidding it to be taught to slaves” (Doc 2). During the Renaissance Era, social class was very prominent as the middle class could now learn new skills that the wealthy could as well. This not only increased the knowledge of many people but also gave us insight of how prosperous this time in age was. As new ideas were being born, art was reborn; new techniques for painting began to develop, revolutionizing art as we know it. A famous painter named Masaccio created a new type of work. His work contains three dimensional images and lifelike figures. (Doc 5) This creativity not only benefited him, but also inspired people others to be unique with their own work which ultimately resulting in the creation various eclectic pieces. These ideas about art as well as ideas of the period spread through trade. Because Italy is located near numerous large bodies of water, they were able to maintain many ports. People from neighboring regions would travel to and from Italy bringing and spread not only goods, but ideas. Thus the Renaissance began to have a larger impact on society, bringing creativity and inquiry to a new generation of people as well impacting our modern views on the…
The Civil War was one of the bloodiest wars fought by the Unites Sates of America. The Civil war was fought in the South, known as the Confederate Sates, and the North, the Union. The North’s and the South’s differences were based on slavery. Southerners had an agricultural way of life, using slaves as farm tools. The use of slaves in the South was common and considered essential for a farm. But the North opposed to the South’s ways. They believed it was inhumane to use someone for free labor, despite their long, hard working hours. Finally the South was fed up and seceded, calling for war. The war, although, did not happen over night. A series of existential threats had built up and had finally exploded. Four of the major threats were the…
The north's economy had many manufacturing factories which helped the economic development because of the industrial revolution. The North had more resources then the south had. The North had factories to make ammunition when in war. They also continued the growth of railroads which made it easy to bring supplies to troops and places. The North farmland was smaller than the south's because of the climate. The north's social structure had little need for slaves. The North was able to rebuild after the war because they weren’t as dependent on slaves like the south was. The Daily life in the north consisted of men working and women tending the house. The women had little education and the men always told them what to do. A woman usually got…

Should elderly, disabled, and homeless people be able to use food stamps for restaurant food? Recent discussion of making restaurant available for this three groups of people, Tom Laskawy discussed in “ Hondson Choice” they should be able to, because this may be the only meal they receive a day and its admirable. On the other hand Michelle Goudine reports in food stamps should only be used for healthy foods and that the government should spend money on educated people on eating healthy rather than contributing to unhealthy eating. In A Hombson Choice, Tom Laskawy admits that making restaurant foods available for those who are unable, due to age, disability, or homelessness, reduces hunger seems necessary. Michelle Goudine thinks otherwise in “No Funds for Fast Foods”, they should only be able to buy healthy foods and the government should spend more time educating on how to eat nutritionally rather than subsidizing less healthy options, we should spend money educating all Americans in better nutritional choices and work on making healthy foods just as cheap as fast foods. The elderly, disabled and homeless should be able to use their food stamps to buy restaurant because, because healthy or not, this maybe the only way they are able to get anything to eat.…
Many of colonies resulted from European expansion; perhaps the two most talked about would be the colonies in Virginia and Massachusetts. Each colony was unique in its own way, but similarities between the two were also apparent. These similarities and differences helped shape what would eventually become the “North” and “South” during the Civil War.…
