Why is soccer called two different names?
In America we call it soccer which is a sport that a lot of people play. Soccer is a sport where you take a ball shaped as a sphere and you kick the ball while running down the soccer field until you shoot the ball into the net and score a point. There are four quarters in a game. Each quarter has about twenty minutes to play the game but in between quarters 2, and 3 there is a short break. In soccer you can’t touch the ball with your hands unless you’re the goalie, if you touch the ball it is a foul. If you kick, hi, trip, or do anything physical with another person then you would get penalty if you get five penalties then you sit out for the rest of the game or for the rest of that quarter.
In the United Kingdom they call soccer football, they call it this because It all started during the Middle Ages, where early version of the 'ball and feet' game started to appear in England. In America there can only be eleven people on the field during one game, the can change the players every quarter by switching them out. In the U.K it is the exact same as in america. When the goalie is in the goalie box nobody else is allowed in there they can be right up next to it but they can not be in it. The only way they can be in the goalie box is when they are trying to head but it in from the corner kick. The corner kick is when it goes out in the corner and they kick it in next to the goalie post and someone has to either kick the ball in or head but the ball
