When Beatrice leaves her family to be with her new friends and soon to be family she doesn't realize what choice she just made. She now has to go through hard, intense, training that she is very scared for, because she doesn't know what to expect. Odysseus is the same way he has to say goodbye to his family and then has to go on this unknown journey that would last two decades. They both have to leave their family but also be away from them for a very long time.

She notices that neither of her parents were home and that scares her. She looks outside and see’s that the city that they live in was attacked and under invasion. Then she figures out that her mom was killed during the war. Odysseus is the opposite way he goes and actually returns home to his family. He is home but no one knows because he is disguised as an old beggar. The only one who finds out is his wife only because of the scar on his ankle. She then tells the beggars that the only way she will marry one of them is if they string a bow and shoot a bow through 12 axes. She only did that because she knew it was odysseus would win. These two are different in this part but only because of what happens to tris’s
