water was due to ship all over Germany, presumed to be included in Hitler’s secret weapon. However, with the equipment destroyed, no heavy water could be produced. All in all, this meant that countless people did not lose their lives to Hitler’s presumed secret weapon. Denmark was suspected to have a new radar capable of longer range transmission.
If America was going to win, they needed to find out more about the technology, or else the opposing side would have an advantage in air combat. Tommy Sneum and his partner traveled to Denmark to have photos taken of the radar installations. Upon return, they had to fly across the Pacific in an aircraft that had to be refueled. When they returned, they were suspected as double agents and were executed after bringing back the intelligence. However, their information proved to be useful. The allies would learn how such technologies could
function. In conclusion, having spies is beneficial to one’s war efforts. For example, if the sabotage of heavy water in the factory was not successful, then Hitler may have managed to make hydrogen bombs, perhaps the war may had a different outcome. All in all, having spies in a war can complement the war’s actions. If spies for one side proves to be successful, then they are more likely to obtain a victory.
