The exterior of the two consoles is certainly nothing special. Both being two rather hefty looking slabs of black plastic, The Xbox looks like a 70s VHS player, while the PlayStation has the look of two stacked parallelograms. Although both of the consoles have a glossy finish to them, half of the PS4 also has a black matte finish for accented touch. In the case of the exterior lighting, the Xbox One offers very little. The only sense of light on the boxy looking console comes from the right side, where the power button resides. The PS4, however, has a strand of light stretching from the front over and down the back, dividing the glossy paint from the matte black. On the PlayStation, the disk eject button and the power button are both heat sensitive, meaning that the two similarly shaped buttons only require the touch of a finger in order to tell the console to turn off or eject a game. The same goes for the input buttons on the Xbox One, other than the buttons being separated by the disk tray rather than stacked on top of eachother. The Xbone has noticeable vent holes covering the top right half, and if paying close attention, the fan can be seen under these vent holes. On the Playstation, however, the fan is hidden on the backside near the video/power ports, relieving the motherboard of heat. Nevertheless, looks are definitely not everything; most people want a game console that packs a good
