Aspirin reacted with Sodium Bicarbonate to form salt, sodium acetylsalicylate. The reaction caused fizzing and gas. When hydrochloric acid was added to sodium acetylsalicylate the solution bubbled, sizzled, and gave off heat. All precipitates were white.…
The limewater turned into white opaque color, and gas bubbles and white precipitate was formed, as placed the open end of the gas delivery tube(reaction between sodium bicarbonate and white vinegar) into the limewater.…
2) Mix only the sodium bicarbonate and red phenol, and observe any changes that occur.…
The purpose of the practical that we completed was to determine the molar mass of carbon dioxide (CO2) by experimental means and to observe the reaction of hydrochloric acid and sodium carbonate. Using the balanced equation:…
With this reaction the carbonate and the diatomic hydrogen combined together to make the bubbling effect that we had noted. This leaves us with the water molecule with the sodium chloride dissolved in it with the carbon dioxide gas bubbles.…
Experiment and Observations: As I performed the lab, I had to retrieve all my equipment’s from my labpaq. As I started to setup, I had to weigh out 1.0 gram of CaCl2*2H2O on the digital scale. After it was weighed, it was added to the 100 mL beaker and 25 mL of distilled was added and stirred. Next, I had to figure out the amount of the second reactant, so that it can be added to the solution. I had to perform stoichiometry to figure out the amount of Na2CO3 is needed to make a precipitate of calcium carbonate. After the calculations, I arrived at .72 grams of Na2CO3 and rounded to the nearest tenth to mix with 25 mL of distilled water. After both of the reactants were mixed separately with distilled water, they both were clear color. As soon as you added the solution of Na2CO3 to CaCl2*2H2O the color of solution changed to a cloud white color. When both solutions are mixed, the paper filter that was provided with the lab must be weighed and recorded. Then you pour the solution into the paper filter to filter out the precipitate and dry the filter to weigh the mass of the precipitate when it dries. After it dried, it was weighed and stoichiometry was performed to see what the…
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to find the limiting reactant, also to find the percentage yield and percentage purity of the reaction that happens between Calcium Chloride and Sodium Carbonate. The other purpose was to know how the reaction can be balanced and created.…
1. Determine the limiting reagent for each trial. Show your calculations. (Hint: See the example in the Introduction.)…
A.|NaHCO3 + HCl|A2|Tiny bubbles formed around the edges. Under white paper it looked transparent, but under black paper there was some white in the middle. |…
When combined Sodium Bicarbonate and Hydrochloric Acid, Carbon Dioxide is produced. The two chemicals do not undergo a change in color but a chemical change when CO2 is produced.…
When the two substances (vinegar and baking soda) mix, the vinegar, an acid, is creating a chemical reaction with the baking soda, a base. When the two substances form, it creates carbonic acid.…
In this experiment, you will react a known amount of sodium carbonate solution with a known amount of…
This aim of this experiment was to determine whether or not a chemical reaction occurred after the mixing of various chemicals. The evolution of a gas, the formation of precipitation, and the change of temperature or color are all indicative of a chemical reaction. It was assumed that a reaction did not take place if the mixture of chemicals exhibited none of these characteristics. Several precipitation, complex-ion formation, redox, and acid-base reactions were performed.…
An Alka-Seltzer tablet was accurately weighed and recorded using a weighing boat and analytical balance. A fragmented piece between 0.2100g and 0.2800g was also weighed and recorded. 500mL of water was placed in a 600mL beaker. 80mL of water was then mixed with 20mL of 6M HCl in a 150mL beaker to create 1.2M HCl. A 1.5g piece of Alka-Seltzer tablet was then added to the HCl solution. After complete evolution of CO2, gravity filtration was used to catch all of the starch produced from the reaction. The buret was filled with the filtrated solution and the glass tube end of a rubber tube was inserted about 2 inches into the mouth of the buret. While keeping a finger over the buret mouth, the entire buret was quickly inverted and the tubing and mouth completely submerged into the water in the 600mL beaker. The buret was then clamped into place while double checking the buret mouth was under the water level and the rubber tubing was not pinched. The stopcock was then opened extremely slowly until the water level in the buret dropped close to the 50.00mL mark. This level was then recorded.…
Copper carbonate reacts with acid to produce a salt, carbon dioxide and water. The fizzing (release of carbon dioxide) indicates that a reaction is happening. It may be possible to estimate the amount of Copper Carbonate in ore samples by reacting them with acid and comparing how long they take to stop fizzing.…
