Compare Tony From My Father And Ultima
“From my father and Ultima I had learned that the greater immortality is the freedom of man, and that freedom is best nourished by the noble expanse of land and air and pure, white sky” (Anaya, 228). Tony’s father then talks about the land possessing “a power that can fill a man with satisfaction” (Anaya, 229). Ultima adds on about the land giving faith for nature to grow and evolve. The texts, “Undaunted Courage” and “The Way To Rainy Mountain” depict the land as a spiritual entity that’s worth being worshipped and respected as shown by man’s praise of it. The way man, rather than exploit it for profit, respects the land through animism shows their gratitude for it. From the detailed descriptions that give the reader an illustration of what man has seen, it is clear to say that man had this religious relationship again, but was also in tune with the lay of the land.…

He manages to kill it with everything he has by spading it across the neck. After Antonio discovers that Jim had ran upon the snake and killed it she was full of praise for we had had done. Her optimism shows during this because even in such a bad situation that could have been a deadly situation, she talks about him in such a heroic way. As Jim and Antonio are on their way back to tell the others the exciting snake story, Jim describes Antonio. "As she rode along slowly, her bare legs swinging against the ponies sides, she kept shouting back to me about how astonished everybody would be. Her exultation was contagious." Antonio's loyalty is especially shown through not only to Cather but to her family and friends. Antonio was asked about attending school so that she can learn so much more than what Jim had taught her. As Jim approached her with this she said, " I ain't got time to learn. I can work like mans now. School is alright for little boys. I help make this land one good farm." Antonio was loyal to everything and everyone she knew even if it meant sacrificing things she wanted in life. She was a very hard worker and was loyal to making anything she did a success. Ages of Man

According to Greek mythology, “the ages of man” are phases that humans have gone through over time, since having existed on Earth. While most are familiar with Shakespeare’s poem “The Seven Ages of Man”, many are not familiar with Hesiod’s five, and Ovids four interpretation of the stages of mankind. Hesiod and Ovid, two classical authors known in Greek mythology, have suggested different phases of how mankind has evolved over time. These stages, similarly have significantly progressed from long ago in which mankind adorned their blissful and exquisite way of life, to what is seen in the last phase of man. For both Hesiod and Ovid their last phase, is seen as a never-ending war, consisting of selfish, immoral humans, who experience sorrow and torture amongst one another. With these two well-known interpretations, from Hesiod (Greek) and Ovid (Rome), the Greeks seem to believe in a life after death. They may not be too secure with the idea, nor do they seem to know how long it will last. But the Romans looked at man like anything else created: he lives, deteriorates and dies, just as the metals begin to diminish over time in conjunction to “the decline of humankind from a blessed past to a wretched present” (Powell).…

There could be many possible themes for this story, but I'm not going to talk about one right now. I'm going to try to reveal the main issue in this novel. Tony, Antonio Samson, in this story has a poor background who turned rich because of her wealthy wife. For me, the main issue here is the use of your newly acquired wealth and power to forget all about where you came from. Wealth and power is one of the most important things for some people right now. Same goes with Tony, he's hypnotized with all the wealth and power he now have to change himself and be embarrassed in telling stories of his family. Antonio Samson's character here is somewhat wide open to a huge change, but he does not know that it's the change that would let him lose his true friends and would lead to his death.…
