Comparing Bradstreet And Jonathan Edwards

What religion do you believe in? Are you a Christian, Atheist, or agnostic? Well, the Puritans were people who believed deeply in the Christian faith, and they lived by a strict moral code. Puritans were immigrants who originated from England. They traveled to America for the protection of their beliefs, which included Predestination, Covenant of Works, Covenant of Grace, and the Covenant of Redemption. Even though Puritans were Christians, they behaved very selfishly toward others. Two Puritan writers, Anne Bradstreet and Jonathan Edwards, believed similarly in the Christian faith, but persuaded their views to their readers in their writings using different tactics.
Who is Anne Bradstreet? She was a Puritan woman who became one of the first great women writers in history. She composed a poem, “Upon the Burning of Our House,” that describes the traumatic event of her home burning down, which occurred on July 10, 1666. In the poem, Bradstreet depicts her reaction after waking up in the middle of the night to escape her ablazing home while it sizzles to the ground. Bradstreet writes:
In silent night when rest I
In Edwards’ sermon, he writes, “there is nothing between you fom hell but the mere pleasure of god.” He conveys hatred in his writings towards his readers, who are sinners in his eyes, and warns them to get right with God or else be deemed to hell. “It is true that judgement against your evil works has not been executed hither to.” / “Your wickedness makes you as it were heavy as lead.” / “But your guilt in the meantime is constantly increasing.” This is evident that Edwards feels viciously angry towards mankind, because it is overwhelmingly sinful, even though he is a sinner
