Broca' area is one of the main areas located in the cerebral cortex which goes into the process of producing language. Broca's area is found in the forebrain division of the brain. Directionally, Broca's area is located in the lower portion of the left frontal lobe. Broca's area is involved in several functions that include speech reproduction, facial neuron control, and language processing. Carl Wernicke's contributes to Wernicke's area. Wernickie's are is one of the main areas located in the cerebral cortex that is responsible for language comprehension. Directionally, Wernicke's area is located in the lower portion of the left frontal lobe. Wernicke's area is involved in several functions that include language comprehension, semantic processing, langauage recognition, and langauge interpretation. Broca's and Wernicke's area work together via nerve fiber bundles called arcuate …show more content…
Damage that occurs in Broca's area is called Broca aphasia. Once damage occurs people have difficulty with speech difficulty, meaning they can still speak but it is slow. These individuals understand but have a hard time communicating and articulating verblly. The nerve fibers that connect Broca's area to Wernickie's area can also become damaged which can result in a condition called conduction aphasia. The affect of conduction aphasia causes difficulty repeating words or phrases properly but are able to comprehend language and speak coherently. Damage that occurs to the posterior temporal lobe region where Wernicke's area is located is called Wernicke's aphasia. These individuals have have difficulty comprehending language and communicating ideas. They lose the ability to connect words to their meanings. Together they help us with speech and communicating on a dialy basis. Each are involved in helping us convey thoughts and getting our points
