By applying Emerson's or Thoreau's Transcendentalist philosophy, we can gain a unique perspective on how to overcome a main focus of money, focusing on individual responsibility, societal change, and a deeper connection to nature or self. In the world, there have been many scandals and incidents between celebrities and people of high wealth. People tend to focus on the popularity and price of things more than the actual person, which can distract you from their true self. Many people who are famous have been exposed to doing cruel and illegal things just to sweep it away because of their wealth, and even the government has been accused of doing bad, unfair things with no consequences. There have been many people who choose not to trust what they see and hear about someone who is mainly made of their money and decide to “fight against them” by voicing their opinions and disagreements towards them and their community. Emerson and his passion for transcendentalism would change the way people view one another and focus on the deeper things of others. Thoreau would suggest people get to know one another and find a deep connection with them. He would strive for people to focus on their own lives and self until they are truly comfortable with themselves. Being out in nature can help people clear their heads and realize who they really want in their lives. Even though there could be many people on Emerson's side, there would also be people against his ideas. Just like any situation, there are always two sides and disagreements between whos right or wrong. There would still be people who only focus on their wealth and popularity being praised by people. Thoreau's beliefs are similar to Emerson's and also have their disagreements. Some people don't focus on who they are getting to know and are allowing in their lives and it comes back to hurt them in the end. If people slowly start to find themselves and focus on bettering their lives, there would be much less support for people doing terrible
