Hindu scriptures offer several different accounts for the origin of the universe. In the Chandogya Upanishad, creation is described as breaking of an egg. It also narrates that in the beginning was the Brahman, and through heaven, the earth, and the atmosphere and the three seasons of summer, rains, and harvest he created the entire universe. Dharma means living morally at all times as well as paying all debts that we are born into. Debts are owed to God, parents and teachers, guests, other human beings and all other living beings. Artha is success in all worldly pursuits. Although the ultimate goal is enlightment, pursuit of wealth is looked at as a fitting quest. Kama refers to romantic love. Moksha is union with God, which is considered the highest purpose of life. Christian worldview is similar to Moksa, our purpose in life is to develop personal relationship with God.
Hindu’s believe in “karma”, where people are rewarded or punished according to their actions. In my research, I could not find a list of do’s and don’ts like that documented in the Bible. Good deeds reap good rewards where as bad deeds result in suffering and pain. Also Dharma talks about living morally at all times and paying our debts.
