In the poem tells that Odysseus struggle to return home for 10 years following the Trojan War. During his struggle he met Lotus-eaters, Cyclops, Aeolus, Scylla and Charybdis, and Calypso. Homer’s work was considered a fiction because there is no proof that Odysseus ever existed. Odysseus characters was known for his brave, cunning, versatility, and brilliant mind, along with his pride. Homer was included in the Trojan war with people he just met during the war. Because of his characteristic being brave, Odysseus showed how the powerful warrior is. it cause him to be success in life. Moreover, Odysseus showed many skills in order for him to cohort and survive such as showing his ability to hide himself in the Trojan horse. On the island of the lotus eaters there is a plant called the lotus, once you eat it you lose hope of wanting to go home and want to stay on the island. Some of Odysseus men ate the lotus and Odysseus had to drag them back to the ship and they continued on their trip. While moving forward, Odysseus and his men met Cyclops, one eyed giants on an island and were held captive until they managed to escape. Odysseus and his men landed on Aeolus island. This was the god of the wind and gave Odysseus and his men wind energy to send them home. Another problem that they encountered was a monster with six heads and a whirlpool named Charybdis.
