Everyone desires to mean something to somebody at some point in their life. Both “Out, Out” and “A Man Said to the Universe” express through corresponding themes but unalike tones, the universe doesn’t care, no matter your rank, and where one stands on Earth.
Throughout the poems one could see that the theme is the universe doesn’t care. Both “the big boy” and “the man” wanted to mean something to someone. The boy perished from the consequential accident from the saw, after his passing his family and piers fell back into a daily life routine and blew the death off. This boy must not have meant very much to the family or the universe because it never fazed anyone. Robert Frost
