Comparing Pamphilia To Amphilantus, I, And Your Eyes
The two poems “Pamphilia to Amphilantus” by Mary Wroth and “I… and your eyes” by Ethridge Knight differ in many ways but yet are similar. Love and admiration are the central ideas of these poems. Poem A compares love to a juggler, but Wroth ends the poem by mentioning that love’s gain, or the juggler’s gain in this instance, can result in a lost. Poem B is a poem that is based entirely on admiration for someone, evidence to support can be found throughout the poem with all the different examples of vivid imagery. Poem A has rhyme in each line of the poem, unlike Poem B which uses repetition. Both poems are centralized around affection of some type, though the poems differ in certain ways. Love and admiration are inspiration of both poems.

The general subject to both of these poems is the fact that they both have to do with love, and sex. Although in the poem To the Virgins, to Make Much of Time the writer is talking about all young girls to lose their virginity. I know it is directed to all young girls because in line 10 it states, “When youth and blood are warmer.” When he says “youth” he is talking about young girls. The poem To His Coy Mistress is talking about how the writer wants one,a certain girl in particular to have sex with him. He is doing all he by convincing her and trying his best for her to say yes. In lines 15-19 he says, “Two…

<br>With insistent meter and captivating rhyme schemes, Edgar Allan Poe's "Annabel Lee" and "The Raven" are both very similar. However, in their views of love, namely the loss and mourning of beautiful women, they differ greatly. Through analysis of the two poems, the reader observes that whom Poe had chosen for a speaker, the tone and the sound effects are all factors in both poems that make two poems with a similar theme contrast.…

Furthermore they both include the reality of family life as the poems are realistic and the poems, especially Nettles, have both the love and misery of family relationships. In Nettles the love in the poem is the protective instincts of a parent towards his son but the misery is the Nettles that had hurt his child and the fact that being protective isn’t enough to stop him from getting hurt. The realistic relationship in Harmonium is the family resentment and frustration from a son to his father. We can tell that the writer resents and is frustrated by his father as it says “and he being him can’t help but say.......... and I, being me” which shows that he is frustrated at their relationship. However the Harmonium is used to describe his father so therefore his family life whereas in Nettles it is reversed. The Nettles, that had caused pain for the boy, is actually describing soldiers and war therefore the underlying message is not about family but about war and the underlying message in Harmonium is not about the Harmonium but about family.…

In the poems, , they shared many similarities. One similarity is that they both used apostrophes to make their rhythm come together. Some examples would be the words “refin’d, heavn’s, th’angelic, fill’d, and heav’nly.” Another way they compare is that they both use biblical references. Various examples are that in the first poem she ended it with “May be refin’d and join th’angelic train” and also in the second poem she said “Fill’d with the praise of him who gives the light,” both referring to God and the heavens. Throughout both of the poems she expresses how happy she was to be brought to America and be placed in the family she was. Phillis also shows that she was happy to have learned Christianity and that she found God. Those are only a few similarities I noticed, but I’m sure there are plenty more.…

One set of similarities was they both include death somewhere in the poem or song. The song though has some symbolism and i don’t know about the song. The song talks about living life to the fullest. Another similarity is they both are talking about them either dying or someone dying. The sensory details in the poem help give symbolism by “cold” or death.…
