He led his own group and was called hunters. They needed to eat meat, but in order for them to cook it, they needed a fire so; they raided the other group and stole the glasses of Ralph’s friend, Piggy. The hunters raided again and stole almost Ralph’s entire group and Jack gained a lot of power.…
In most cases when there are two versions of something we can find differences and similarities, such as when a book is made into a movie. An example of this is the book To Kill A Mockingbird which was made into a movie, these two versions are very different but portray the same story. The movie does a good job in presenting the main points of the book but overall the film and the novel are dissimilar more than they are alike. The three main differences are the alterations of major scenes, the absence of characters and the lack of details illustrated in the book.…
Despite almost all of the characters going through transitions due to the changed circumstances, Golding depicts Jack as the most explicit figure. “Jack and Ralph smiled at each other…The point tore the skin and flesh over Ralph’s ribs”. Initially, when Jack first shows up on the island, we realize that he is a leader of a choir, marching in military style. Although this foreshadows Jack’s totalitarianism and dictatorship, it still shows the typical characteristics of a typical teenage boy, wanting to take on leadership roles and smiling whenever possible. However, as Jack becomes obsessed with hunting pigs and eventually putting on the mask, he turns savage and gruesome beyond return. The fact that he uses a spear to attack Ralph immediately after Piggy’s brutal death shows Jack has completely lost his rationality and sense of human being.…
In the book To Kill a Mocking bird by Harper Lee, both Atticus and Mrs. Dubose are brave figures for Scout and Jem. However they both show bravery differently. Mrs. Dubose faces her addiction with Morphine though reading and attacking others: “ Yes that’s what they were. Most of the time you were reading to her I doubt if she heard a word you said. Her whole mind and body concentrated on that alarm clock. If you fallen into her hands. I’d have made you go read to her anyways. It may have been some distraction. There was another reason. (111) Though Mrs. Dubose knew that her addiction to morphine had beat her, she shows bravery by trying to survive and cope with that through reading and being mean to Jem and Scout.…
In the story Jack becomes more and more aggressive by causing harm to Piggy and Simon along with his rituals. In the text it reads, “Ralphs right of course. There isn't a snake-thing. But if there was a snake we’d hunt it and kill it”(36). This shows how Jack wants to be the hero and impress the littluns in savage ways.…
To Kill A Mockingbird has a novel and a film. The novel may have many similarities to the film, the film might be a little different, but this is what they share in similarities. In the novel and the film they both have Scout as the narrator, and it is being told from Scout’s point of view. When Atticus shot the mad dog, that was in the novel as well as the film. In the novel Boo Radley left gifts in the hole in the tree, and when his brother found out, he filled the hole with cement. In the film there was a visual of what the gifts from Boo Radley looked like, and how his brother filled the hole with cement. The themes were similar, the theme of racism, family, and maturing was given in…
As you watch a movie, you can see a big difference between the movie and book. In the book and movie, “To kill a Mockingbird”, there is a difference between them. They are both different because the book has more details about situations that are happening. Also, because of the way you can picture what is going on. They are similar because in some parts in the movie, the characters say the same things as to when you read the book. In my opinion, the book gives you a better understanding of what the story is about because of the details it provides.…

In the story Jack is innocent and behaves like he still in the world of grownups. When he first enters the story he makes the choir wear their school uniforms even though it is unbearably hot. As soon as he sees Piggy he says “Shut up fatty” (pg.21), which shows him becoming meaner and not acting like he would if he were with an adult. Jacks first attempt to become chief was dismissed and given to Ralph, which is most likely what began his dislike for Ralph.…
In the novel, Jack was angry when the group didn’t vote Ralph out from being chief. Which caused him to run off into the forest and create a new group. But it wasn’t a good group, he was torturing Ralph and his group, then he was taking from them and leaving them with nothing. He kept bribing people from Ralph’s group to come to his group . He was angry at Ralph and Piggy and was trying to make them pay. His anger cause major problems and he also just wanted attention. The result of his anger caused two people to get…
Your schools are very different. Your schools serpass both of mine Holcomb and Malden in school building number. Our yeaxher to student ratio is similer in comparison in both schools. Both of my schools are slightly more diverse than yours. Your school board for delta is small in comparison and your school board in Jackson is biger in comparison. Both of my schools are higher than Delta, but both are lower than Jackson in assesed value. Holcomb has a lower ADA than both your schools, but Malden has a similer ADA to both your schools. The free reduced lunch was not listed, but mine are over half or all the students receiving free or reduced lunches. These are important because they insure that all the students get at least two healthy meals…
My initial reaction when our instructor, Kate Scarbrough, began to tell us our topics for the research paper was fear. As the other topics were being assigned: taxes, global warming, and state lotteries issues, I was led to anticipate the worst topic would be assigned to me. Finally, Scarbrough stated I was researching the censorship in schools and surprisingly, I was satisfied. Our school, Seaman High School, has had numerous events in the past couple years involving this issue: newspaper articles, posters around the school, and even interviews on SVTV, Seaman Vikings Television, over their opinion on the topic. This brought to my attention the amount of books that are banned from the schools with no…
I chose the Roman Colosseum as my public place. The Colosseum (pg.144) began to be built in 72 CE during the reign of Vespasian and continued into the dictatorship of Titus in 80 CE. This was Rome’s greatest arena, which held about 50,000 observers. It has never been improved upon, as you can see most of the top two stories are missing. The function of this building was for entertainment purposes, It is said that the opening performance lasted 100 days, during which 9,000 animals and 2,000 gladiators died. The Romans really loved blood sports, it is crazy to imagine that, especially having children witnessing these events.…
