Superman (1978) and Man of Steel are two very different films that are based on the same idea. Both films were made in times where technology changed the quality of each film.
Superman (1978) was made 35 years earlier to that of Man of Steel. One sees the difference in both films when looking at the posters of each film. Poster 1 is a Superman (1978) poster which shows the title of the film and the famous Superman logo in the middle. The poster shows how old it actually is due to the quality of the poster and also because of the simplicity of it. It also shows how technology was considered advanced for that time because of the 3-dimensional title and logo, most films back then used 2-dimensional titles. Also the colour of the logo shows that

In the opening of the story Superman plays the typical role as the hero and role model, especially to Jimmy. On page one Jimmy, in this childhood moment, is outfitting himself with his own red superhero mask as he prepares himself to meet his idol at the auto-show he attends with his mother. Superman we see here is actually Super-Man, a middle-aged man in an ill-fitting costume of the wrong color, but he “saves” Jimmy from getting in trouble with his mother, resulting in him joining them for dinner and “nightcap” back at their home. Jimmy’s discomfort is evident in his facial expressions as…

Superman is possibly one of the most known superheroes in the world. But in the past six years the superhero movie industry has exploded. At least one major blockbuster superhero movie is now released about every six months and countless people flood into the movie theater to see each and every one. Prior to the explosion of popularity I would dare say Superman was the single most known superhero in the world, but now he has to compete with other superheroes like Ironman, Captain America, Hulk, Thor, And Batman. What are the underlying themes and morals expressed within the story of Superman? What message is being given when Superman gives himself over to humanity so that they can decide their own fate, or when he saves humanity from the destruction to come, or even when he kills…

I understand where David Goyer and Christopher Nolan were going with the original pitch of the film. What if Superman was real? Almost everything in the first half of the movie (perhaps bar the Krypton opening) is geared towards the idea of an alien with superpowers trying to exist in the real world. The scenes with Martha and Jonathan Kent really empathised the “reality" of Clark dealing with with progressing powers. Kevin Costner did an admiral job, voicing a very interesting and plausible concern. Clark explains this to Lois, after flashing back to a refreashing take on Jonathan’s death; “My father believed that if the world found out who I really was, they’d reject me… out of fear. He was convinced that the world wasn’t ready. What do you think?"…
