“A Pair of Tickets” is much better than “A Conversation with My Father ” because of its superior setting. In the article titled “Daughter-text/Mother-text” Marina Heung suggests that the literature on women's works is expanding rapidly (597). This article fully shows how Amy Tan’s writing affects women in general. The setting “A Pair of Tickets is refreshing. On page 265 the setting shows Canning Woo’s love for China. The line reads “And I don’t know whether it’s the prospect of seeing his aunt or if it is because he is back in China, but now he looks like a young boy.” In contrast, the setting in “A Conversation with My Father” is dismal.
