Why do people do such cruel things? The novel The Outsiders explained this when it was released in 1967. Then, the movie The Outsiders was released in 1983. They both show the hardships of a group of boys in Tulsa, Oklahoma. The movie was based off of the novel and they did a good job of recreating the novel, but there are still many differences that separates these two. The book and the movie are very similar, but there is some very large differences. The major plot points are the same in both versions of the Outsiders. They both have Johnny killing Bob, Johnny getting killed from the fire, and Johnny commiting suicide because of Johnny’s death. They also both have the same style of clothing. The Socs wore madras and the greasers wore leather
jackets and jeans in both the novel and the movie. Although, the movie never talked about Sandy. In the novel Sodapop was going to marry Sandy, but Sandy had to move away. Also, the reason that Bob acted like he did that lead to to his death. The novel and the movie are pretty similar and still shows the same points. The movie recreated the novel well, but there is still some differences. Both the movie and the novel shows that you are stronger together. They both show how he greasers were able to beat the Socs when all of the people from around there teamed up to beat them. The movie did a great job of recreating the book with a visual effect. The book and the movie has many similarities and differences that makes them unique.
