Every Child Matters was drawn up to give youth services such as schools, hospitals, police and volunteer groups a solid foundation from which to build effective policies to protect children from harm and guide them to achieve what they want from life. These key services were identified as the areas that have potentially more influence over the wellbeing of minors when not in the care of parents or guardians therefore each of these services have a responsibility to apply the Every Child Matters aims to their standard daily operation. The Government's aim is for each and every child, regardless of background, ethnicity and family circumstances, to be supported in five key aspects of healthy and happy living. They are as follows: · Be healthy · Stay safe · Enjoy and achieve · Make a positive contribution · Achieve economic well-being The long term objective of Every Child Matters is to build confident and able generations in future, who are equipped with the skills and knowledge to lead fulfilling and prosperous lives.
