Comparing The Snipper And Cranes
War is what I believe to be used as settle differences. The story “The Snipper” and “Cranes” both are taking places in a civil war. “The Snipper” is taking places in Dublin, Ireland. The war is about how they want Ireland to become republic. “Cranes” is taking places in Korea the north and south are in war. “The Snipper” is by Liam O’Flaherty. The story is about how they are having a civil war and they are fighting in family too so they are family fighting with family. The main character is the republican snipper. They want the whole country to become republic. the theme I was thinking for this story was that “ WAR DOESN’T HAVE AN BOUNDS” the reason for that theme is that the snipper killed his own brother at the end of the story and it does

Dr Seuss showed conflict by showing the two sides that they were practically the same. One small difference would take them to war. When the wall wasn’t so high the grandfather had a snick-berry switch that he guarded until someone shot it with a slingshot showing the better weaponry of the the Zooks and Nooks. This conflict would eventually continue until the weapons are strong enough to commit genocide There is no winner on either side not even really a war but it’s more of a emotional conflict because it makes you think on what all happened.…

War, it can mean two countries fighting, or it can mean conflict between people, resulting in one side winning and one losing, In my two books “Reached” the third part of the matched trilogy by Ally Condie and “Bomb The Race To Build The World's First Atom Bomb” by Steve Sheinkin, they both show the same motif of war. These books show this by how they're both at war in a way and they end up having to work together with others in order to fight the war, and they also get betrayed. These are some the of the ways these books are alike.…

Over the course of history, many countries have struggled through hardships to get where they are today. One such struggle would be civil war, such as the ones in Ireland and Korea. Civil wars are classified as wars fought by citizens of the same country. Sometimes, in times of war, it can be hard to figure out where loyalties lie. The stories of “The Sniper” by Liam O’Flaherty and “Cranes” by Hwang Sunwŏn are from the point of views of men caught in different circumstances that arise from civil wars in their countries. In both of the stories the idea that civil war separates families and friends is in the conflicts that The Sniper and Sŏngsam, the main characters, go through.…

Literature can be an extremely powerful tool of persuasion. One man with one idea has the potential to influence hundreds, thousands, or even millions of people through writing. In fact, one particularly influential piece of literature convinced an entire population of people to ostracize, shun, and even murder their fellow citizens. Compelling texts such as Hitler’s Mein kampf allow me to believe that literature could be considered propaganda. These pieces of literature, when written to pacify a specific audience, can strongly appeal to humanity’s “passions”, as Plato suggests. I believe that authors use literature as a vehicle to demonstrate their personal beliefs and influence their audience to share those beliefs.…

War has been a constantly occurring event throughout history, from the strife between Homo sapien tribes to terrorists in modern society. However, what if there was some way to achieve the same ending without contentions of war? This is what who can be assumed as brothers and pacifists, James and Christopher Collier, are trying to tell us through their novel, My Brother Sam is Dead. The example they use is the American Revolution. So many people, innocent or evil, were killed. “My Brother Sam is Dead” takes us through these events using the perspective of Tim Meeker, a young boy that watches the war completely change his life. In my Brother Sam is Dead, although multiple sides are shown, authors Collier and Collier ultimately argue that war…

Although all wars are conflicts, not all conflicts are wars. Conflicts don’t always have the involvement of armed hostiles, battles or even the involvement of the military. Conflicts can range from anything as little as an argument between politicians, all the up to an official war. Many people believe since World War 2 there have been less conflicts; however there has simply been less conflicts between nations and more within nations. One of the biggest reasons for this is that 90% of countries are made up of different ethnic groups and cultural groups. Some people do not like different types of people in their country which leads to conflict.…
