The theme of ‘adolescent recklessness’ is shown when Alice goes to the red queen to find the hatter and rescue him, even though she has been told that she can’t and isn’t allowed to, she still goes and she ends up getting caught. The theme adolescent recklessness is shown throughout the movie but it does seem to be justifiable as she claims that she needs to save her friends The use of film conventions in ‘Alice in Wonderland’ establishes the time and place in which it was set in, From the language used and etiquette displayed we can tell that the beginning scenes were set in england, between the late nineteenth century or early twentieth century. Rye O’Chanter is curious as to why the Bog Noblins are back and why she should always stay indoors, but one night when her cat runs away, she chases after shady into the swamp which breaks one of the rules that are placed upon her household be her mother, by recklessly chasing after shady she is runs into one of the ferocious bog noblins and it tries to kill her, if she wasn’t saved by a piece of jewelry and her cat then she would’ve died. The use of narrative conventions such as short sentences and point of view in this particular chapter captures the audience as they are more eager to read what is going to happen next. Throughout the novel, Rye’s constant meddling and curiosity eventually leads her to find out who her father is one night, when she breaks yet another rule of her household. The novel is set in third person and is solely focused on the main protagonist, Riley (Rye) O’Chanter. The relationship created between Rye and the audience is made through narrative conventions such as dialogue and the interactions between Rye and other characters. The setting between both Alice in Wonderland and The Luck Uglies sets a playful yet grim mood and helps establish the genre; fantasy, from both of these the audience gets that they are both set in a world where there is a strong and cruel influence of a leader,
