Maroubra and Kogarah are suburbs in Sydney. Maroubra is located in the Southeast of the CBD while Kogarah is located in the south of CBD. Whereas Maroubra is a beach suburb, Kogarah is a residential suburb. In this report, the two suburbs will be compared and contrasted the people, housing and services.
Firstly, both Maroubra and Kogarah have similarities in people. The largest age group of people in Maroubra and Kogarah are between 20 to 39 years old. In addition, both Maroubra and Kogarah are the same percentage of people who were born in Australia. The percentage of that in Maroubra is 53% and in Kogarah is 47%. However, the population in Maroubra is 26,500 people while the population in Kogarah is 10,900 people.
Secondly, there are many differences in housing in Maroubra and Kogarah. The average house price in Maroubra is much higher than Kogarah. For example, the median house price in Maroubra is $1,050,000 while in Kogarah is $650,000. The people who live in apartments in Maroubra are 42% while in Kogarah are 46%. Furthermore, the median apartment price in Maroubra is $575,000 whereas in Kogarah is $420,000.
Finally, Maroubra and Kogarah have similarities and differences in services. Firstly, the transportation in Kogarah is better than Maroubra. Both two suburbs have buses to the city centre. Whereas Kogarah has a train service, Maroubra does not have a train service. Secondly, the two suburbs have shopping center, small shops and cafes. Thirdly, the health care in both suburbs has good facilities. Kogarah has a major hospital but it takes 3km away from Maroubra. Furthermore, the private clinics in the two suburbs are the same. Finally, the education in Maroubra and Kogarah has good facilities. There are many private and public schools in both suburbs. Whereas Kogarah has one college, Maroubra does not have a
