A story wrote from many others The Thousand And One Nights has no true author. Wrote over the last few centuries its authors are unknown and many. This was the first thing that I thought was amazing about this text. It is a compiled component of so many people who we may never know. It is a piece of history that normal people were able to pass on. I enjoyed the uniqueness of the stories. A Thousand And One Nights was the best critique assigned in this class, due to it being truly unique in its authors and history, the willingness of a woman to sacrifice her freedom and life on the slim chance she could save her people in a time where woman did not hold power, and the compilation of stories within the story.

In addition to, the stories in the main story, of King Shahrayar and Shahrazad, His Vizier’s Daughter, are really interesting. The father cleverly uses them to try to convince his daughter to listen to him. My favorite was the one with the man who accidently killed the demons son, so then he has to forfeit his life. However, three men come across the scene and each tell their own story to gain a right of his life to save him from death. Its name is The Story of the Merchant and the Demon. The story represents, “joint effort of the Franciscan missionary-ethnographer Bernardino de Sahagun and the knowledgeable Aztec elders and scribes who labored with him to produce a permanent record of Aztec culture” (1936). A culture that is no longer around today. While it took place in Mexico it still connects to a large portion of Americans today. It was wrote by people who actually lived here, it was the telling of a people trying to protect their homes and way of life, and it covers the history of our neighboring ancestry. First, the Florentine Codex was wrote by people native to this continent. Its people could very well be the ancestor of plenty Americans today. It was not wrote by people who had so sail here from another land. It is from our own people.
