Comparison Between 'Walk Two Moons And The Guest'
The lesson don’t judge a person until you really know them was taught in the novel Walk Two Moons, by Sharon Creech, and the short story “The Guest,” by Uma Krishnaswami. Both of the stories teach the the same lesson but in different ways.
Sharon Creech teaches the lesson don’t judge a person until you really know them by using the character's’ words, thoughts, and feelings. When Phoebe says, “I think maybe Mrs. Cadaver killed Mr. Cadaver and chopped him up and buried him in the backyard.” This shows that Phoebe doesn’t know what actually happened to Mrs.Cadavers Husband

Everyone knows the story of Cinderella, the girl who finds her prince with the help of a magical fairy god-mother, transforming her previously horrible life to a fabulous depiction of every little girls dream. Generations of children around the world have heard the story Cinderella countless times, however most people are unaware of the multiple versions of this legend. The European version of Cinderella ,“Aschenputtel” written by the Grimm Brothers consists of the female protagonist being treated as a servant, yet somehow manages to leave her cruel family behind for her Prince whom she lives happily ever after with. Another version of Cinderella is the Native American tale “The Algonquin Cinderella”, where the female protagonist is also mistreated by her family, however she is fortunate enough to “find” her own prince in her village. Although both stories present similar morals, both vary in details such as characters, settings, and use of magic.…

In the novel Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech Sal’s father accuses Sal of “trying to catch fish in the air” (pg. 75) because she was trying to get her father to stop seeing Mrs. Cadaver to get her mother to come back. The author uses this idiom to show that Sal is doing something that is a waste of time because it is impossible to catch fish from the air and it is impossible for Sal’s mother to come back. There have been times in my life when I have tried to do something that turned out to be impossible. For example, yesterday I went to the Oktoberfest in Yorba Linda and there was a silent auction. There was a specific item up for bid that I really wanted. It was a one week rental for a fancy house with eight bedrooms and an ocean view…

Have you ever thought what it would be like to live during a time when there were attacks that were so close that they could harm you? In Night by Elie Wiesel and A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini, two completely different people have to go through the similar, tragic problems. Even though times were rough, Elie and Mariam were able to use their love for their family, bravery, and determination to survive through a greater evil. Some similarities between the books Night and A Thousand Splendid Suns is that they both had to do with a struggle between a character and greater evil.…

Have you ever heard of a saying, don’t judge a book by its cover? The story “The Most Dangerous Game” was about a man named Rainsford. He misjudged a man named General Zaroff who seemed kind in the beginning yet turned out to be evil. This phrase means don’t assume a person is one way unless you truly know them deep down in your heart. For example, Zaroff was flattering Rainsford with his looks, manners and the way he treated people. Also, don’t judge someone because you don’t what they have been through or what they may be experiencing.…

The chapter starts with Sal eating in Phoebe's house. Sal explains how the Winterbottoms were picky about their food; they didn't eat meat and were very concerned about cholesterol. While eating Sal realized that Mrs.Winterbottom was not really content with being Mrs. Super Housewife. No one really pays much attention to her. Sal realized also that Mr.Winterbottom was very serious and liked to be in control of the family. Overall Sal saw that they were all being tidy and respectable. After dinner, while walking home, Phoebe mentions that she thought Mrs.Cadaver killed Mr.Cadaver. While in bed, thinking Sal saw that they were all being tidy and respectable. Why do people spend time worrying about things in the past, when they have so much future ahead of them? In the award winning novel, Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech, a mysterious note is dropped off on the Winterbottom’s front porch: “In the course of a lifetime, what does is matter?” Through this metaphor, this message is trying to reveal to people that they should not fret the things in life that won’t matter in a few days, months, or the course of a lifetime. Even thinking about events that occurred in the past, waste time in the present and future. Ultimately, this theme has a significant relation to several characters in the novel and the world at large.…

There are many versions to the famous fairy tale Cinderella. Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm’s German version of Cinderella, “Aschenputtel,” is a household story of a young girl named Cinderella who eventually marries a prince. This specific version of Cinderella gave birth to the Walt Disney version of Cinderella that most Americans know today. However the stories are very different. The Grimm brothers’ version is much darker and gory then the classic American version. Small differences like this shed a different light on Cinderella and her journey to a “happy” ending.…

This story is about a girl that has to go through a thing called “Initiation.” This stories life lesson is to not do stuff just because other people are doing it. I think this should happen because when people are not themselves they tend to be friends with the wrong people and lose their good friends. That is an example of not doing…

I tend to judge people to quickly without even knowing anything about them. I was always told “don’t judge a book by its cover”, by English proverbs, which is true. You cannot tell what is on the inside just by looking at the outside of things, and I never know what that person is going through in life to be able to judge them just on looks.…

The story begins 48 years after Henry and Phoebe’s marriage but Dreiser describes scenes of both the past and the present, making it unclear what is happening when. Here, after Phoebe dies, Henry is left alone in their farm, growing sadder every day until he begins hallucinating that his dear Phoebe is not at all dead and is maybe just somewhere else, visiting some friends, or hiding from him, teasing him as she had always kidded him about going away whenever he did some things she disapproved of. Thus, the conflict in the story is mostly internal.…

Finally, this applies to everyday life. Every single person makes judgements every single day, sometimes mistakenly on outward appearance. The following is an example: Jennifer is the new girl in the tenth grade class. Her skin is flawless, her hair perfect, and her clothes without wrinkle, but she has a history of being snotty and stuck up. On her first day at her new school she is shy and doesn’t talk much. A…
