In high school students are demanded to come to school every day on time and be prepared. In College the student is pretty much welcome to come as he pleases from day to day. To some it's very ironic that many high schools will suspend a student from school if he or she does not show up for school. The disciplinary structure is quite different in college. A student that neglects to show up for school in college will not be punished by the administration in such a conflicted manner. Those students that mess around and don't show up for class are simply allowed to dig their own grave. This is one area many students find different and unwelcome in some cases, about colleges across the country. One thing that many high schools share with colleges across the US is the
almost total lack of classes that offer hands on experience. Even Fewer of those
classes offer an environment even closely resembling the environment the
student will encounter in the work place. Both education mediums generally do have some type of vocational program and many colleges do offer internships in the industrial arts and/or medical fields, unfortunately the degrees you can receive from these types of courses are still very limited in terms of usefulness to the professional student. Simply put in high school and college hands on experience takes a back seat to general education, although many colleges do a moderately effective job trying to bridge the cap depending on the college.
In terms of the students work load college and high school are worlds apart. In twelfth grade English classes in Indiana the trend seems to be one essay and one week of grammar every trimester. In college the average student workload for a similar English class, should expect to compose an essay every week and grammar home work every day. In high school as long as the student had a good grasp of reading comprehension and turned in a few Q/A sheets every week, In most cases the student would be at the top of his class. College changes that if the student fell asleep during grammar week in high school he or she will not be able to just brush it off like it isn't a thing in college. In college they actually try to prepare the students for the real world. Whereas in high school the administrators just want to push that same student out the door as quickly as possible, and with as little energy spent doing it. In short college is a learning environment high school is an assemble line. In my opinion the greatest thing about college, isn't college itself, it's the fact that the students are adults. Being adults the students are free to dictate every aspect of their lives. The pampering go go ga ga effects of elementary and high school education is gone. That is what is so special about college the student has the freedom to succeed or to fail miserably. Many do fail does it mean they weren't smart enough? No it just means for whatever reason be it laziness, money issues and/or emotional problems they didn't finish. Anyone can succeed in college, but not all students are meant to be doctors each student must be able to figure out what their strengths are before they decide what profession to pursue.

In the original movie The Sandlot it introduces the lives of the kids and what they did on a regular day basis, it wasn’t all about baseball for them that added more to the storyline. Kids could relate more to this other than in Sandlot 2 because in this movie everything was about baseball. Also the movie went a little south for me when they talked more about science in The Sandlot 2 than baseball. In The Sandlot Smalls is taught how to play baseball and shown what to do when playing baseball. A different aspect that the Sandlot brought was the boys had fun childhood memories such as tree house sleepovers, lifeguard encounters, and baseball. The Sandlot 2 did not incorporate this into the movie by playing and having fun with your best friends, it felt more serious about other things detracting from the plot.…

Continental philosophy, Pragmatic philosophy, and Analytic philosophy are all three forms of philosophies that are in response to Hegel. The differences began within English speaking countries and European speaking countries, which off-set into two separate traditions. Continental philosophy is the most different in its response to Hegelian idealism in Europe in the 19th and 20th century. The main schools of philosophical thought are existentialism, phenomenology, hermeneutics, deconstruction, and critical theory, being that existentialism and phenomenology are the two prominent schools. Some of the themes of existentialism include “Philosophy must focus on the individual in her or his confrontation with the world,” and “Senselessness, emptiness, triviality, separation, and inability to communicate pervade human existence, giving birth to anxiety, dread, self-doubt, and despair,” (Moore, B. N., & Bruder, K. , 2011, p. 154). Continental philosophers do not agree that science is the best way to describe the ways of life and emphasize on metaphilosophy. To me, Continental Philosophy is difficult to describe because it seems critical instead of expressive. Next, Pragmatic philosophy is the main tradition of philosophy in the United States. Overall, Pragmatic philosophy speaks of the lack of an absolute truth. The truth can change accordingly to any situation depending on the time and place. The three best known pragmatists are C.S Peirce, William James, and John Davey. Instrumentalism, which is Dewey’s product of pragmatism, says that human activity and human thoughts are instruments used by humans to solve practical problems. They believed that truth varied from person to person depending on where he/she wanted to progress in life. Lastly, Analytic philosophy is the main tradition of philosophy in England and later in the United States. Of course the main purpose of Analytic philosophy is analysis, which expresses complex concepts into more…

High school classes might have seemed better in the past compared to college. You might feel more comfortable in smaller classes than you would heading off to university, but that is simply from the comfort of your surroundings. You are familiar with your teachers and your closest friends are always by your side. This might create a friendlier environment, but branching away from the only things you have ever known will help you grow as an individual. Leaving home to start your life as an adult can be tough; however, learning every day responsibilities and making new relationships are two things that will benefit anyone who is getting ready to enter the “real world.” Students benefit more from college classes over high school classes because they learn responsibilities and create new relationships which help them to gain independence.…
