shows that the unknown writer is upset for her husband leaving the town by saying “So Often we swore that only death could ever divide us” (N.a. 18,19). She knows since he is not living in a civilized town he will die, she does not want to be without him. In A Wifes Lament readers clearly know why the author is upset.
In My Immortal by Evanesance, the author is upset because she is alone but also wants to be further away from what is hurting her. The author does not make it clear who made her sad or what they did. She supports that she is upset by saying “ These wounds won't seem to heal, this pan is just too real, there's just too much that time cannot erase” (Evanesance 7,8,9). She uses this metaphor to say that she is emotionally hurt and is trying to distance herself from who hurt her. Evanesance was unclear about who hurt her and what they did to her in the song My Immortal. In A Wifes Lament and My Immortal, There are some differences and some similarities. A similarity they both had is both writes feel lonely. They support this in A Wifes Lament by saying “I had few loved ones and loyal friends”(N.a. 16). In My Immortal she shows she is lonely by saying “I’m bound by the life you left behind”( Evanesance 15). In both A Wifes Lament and My Immortal, the women are lonely and upset. A Wifes Lament and My Immortal they have some similarities and some differences. They are different because A Wifes Lament she is clear why she is upset and in My Immortal she is not clear. They are similar by the women are both upset and lonely. In the poem, A Wifes Lament, and the song, My Immortal, they have some similarities and some differences.
