All around the nations there are different televisions shows to watch. There are crime shows, family shows, and comedy shows. These are just some examples of what is being watched every day. Baby Daddy and Raising Hope are two shows that have similar concepts but contrast in multiple ways.
In each of the shows the background for each baby varies. Emma the little girl in Baby Daddy meets her father in a very odd way. Emma’s father, Ben Wheeler, gets involved with a girl one night and almost a year later he finds a sweet baby girl sitting on his door step. Ben was left

In Baby Daddy, Ben’s family seems to live calmer lives. They are still a broken dysfunctional family. While Ben works at a bar his brother Danny plays professional hockey. The three boys Tucker, Ben, and Danny are always fighting over girl’s attention like any normal group of bachelors. While Bonnie is still a grandma she is still out looking to replace her ex-husband. Mr. Wheeler doesn’t come around but every once in a while but loves to bring surprising news. Ben was shocked to find out that his father is gay. Then in any good television show we have the love drama. Best friend Riley is in love with Ben but Danny truly loves her. Their lives may be calmer but it’s definitely not normal. On Raising Hope there is always something crazy and out of the ordinary that is bound to happen. Jimmy and his father work cleaning pools and yards while Virginia works as a housekeeper. During the day Hope attends daycare with a lady who isn’t quite right in the head. Jimmy also works part time at the local grocery story with the girl that he is madly in love with. Even though his parents are still together there are episode that question why they still are. The most entertaining out of them all is Maw Maw. Jimmy’s great grandmother is crazy but adds to the entertainment of the show. She suffers from severe dementia living every day different. Sometimes she is completely with it and other days she wants to act like a 9 year old on Halloween. Hope’s life is definitely crazy but that’s the entertainment in it all. These families are definitely dysfunctional and

The show was originally about a “pleasure-seeking” jingle writer, Charlie Harper, his uptight brother, Alan, and Alan's growing son, Jake. Charlie's laid back life becomes complicated when his brother gets divorced and moves in, along with Jake, to Charlie's beach-front Malibu house. The Harper brothers Charlie and Alan are almost opposites but form a great team for comedy. They have little in common except their dislike for their dull, emotionless, and dominant mother, Evelyn. Alan, a compulsively neat chiropractor and control-freak, is thrown out by his manipulative wife Judith who nevertheless gets him to pay for everything and do most jobs in the house. Charlie is a freelance jingle composer and irresistible bachelor who lives in a luxurious beach-house and rarely gets up before noon. Charlie "temporarily" allows Alan and his son Jake, a food-obsessed, lazy school kid who constantly moves between his parents, to move in with them after Alan's separation/divorce. The sitcom revolves around their conflicting lifestyles, raising Jake (who has the competent, caring dad while having a ball with his fun-loving uncle who teaches him the fun way to live), and bantering with Evelyn and various other friends and family. Other fairly regular characters include Charlie's cleaning lady Berta, who is the sarcastic and sharp-tongued character who merely does nothing more than insult almost every other character unfortunate enough to cross her…

Televisions have only been around since their debut in the middle of the 20th century and have since become a huge part of everyday life here in America. Originally having good intentions, the television and watching of television in the last couple of decades has changed greatly. The amount of time people spend watching their televisions has also changed in the sense that people spend much more time in front of the television than they used to. Some argue that television has had a huge negative effect on American families. In her essay, “Television: The Plug-In-Drug,” Marie Winn explores the ways in which television has lowered the quality of family life, rituals, and values. She recognizes that there is a problem with our society and the way in which it is consistently influenced by television. She shows this when she says, “Television’s contribution to family life has been an equivocal one,” (Winn 353). Winn is true in saying this because television has caused children across America to have undeveloped intelligence, creativity, and imagination. TV is also detrimental to family life, family relationships, and outside relationships as well.…

Understanding the theories of persuasion, motivation, and influence will put you in life’s driver’s seat. Why? Because everything you want, or will want, in life comes from these three simple concepts. The power of persuasion is of extraordinary and critical importance in today’s world. Nearly every human encounter includes an attempt to gain influence or to persuade others to our way of thinking. Regardless of age, profession, religion, or philosophical beliefs, people are always trying to persuade each other. One’s ability to persuade meant great social prestige in the ancient Greek world. It was Aristotle who first introduced persuasion as a skill that could be learned. The first book ever written on persuasion was his The Art of Rhetoric. Aristotle taught that rhetoric was an art form that could be approached systematically by a formula for all persuasive attempts. Aristotle’s most famous contribution to persuasion was his three means of persuasion: ethos, pathos, and logos. He argued that the most effective persuasive attempts contain all three concepts. I apply these three concepts daily, whether I am communicating with someone or if I am watching TV or listening to the radio. The media is notorious for using ethos, pathos, and logos when trying to persuade viewers to either buy something or to simply watch a new show. One show in particular that I was persuaded to watch is MTV’s 16 and Pregnant. In this project I will talk about how shows like 16 and Pregnant and Teen Mom apply Aristotle’s concepts of ethos, pathos, and logos in an attempt to decrease teen pregnancy in America.…
