The antagonist of this movie is different from other horror movie killers. It gives the movie more originality. He displays some strategizing and smarts instead of the usual attack first types. This murderer understands when he is outmatched and waits for the perfect opportunity to take down a guy twice his size. The killer also removes his mask early in the movie and plays mind games with the protagonist. He tells her that he can get in the house whenever he wants and toys with her. About two-thirds of the way into the movie there is a big twist that shows the imaginative mind Maddie has. In the scene, she makes a run for it and gets caught. When she dies the viewer thinks it is the end, however, it is revealed that she was going through scenarios in her mind. This scene is refreshing to see a horror film that isn’t predictable and the viewer doesn’t expect it. I wish they would’ve expanded on this a little more though. They only show her thinking process once. The writers could’ve used the voice going through scenarios and ideas with her a little
