When faced with tough decisions you have to stop and think about the choices you are going to make in the end. Coupled with the factor, of your moral compass you then have to choose where you stand on the good, or bad spectrum of the choice. The question that comes into factor is what would Immanuel Kant, John Stuart Mill, and Peter Singer do if they were faced with a choice that involved children and their well being what they would advise me to do in the situation. I believe that Kant would advise me to talk the situation over with my husband and weigh all of the options. After, we discussed the financial situation we are in Kant would then ask us to consider "Here it would be easy to show how, with this compass in hand, men are well able to distinguish, in every inconsistent with it, if, without in the least teaching them anything new, we only, like Socrates, direct their attention to the principle and philosophy to know what we should do to be honest and good, yea, even wise and virtuous (Marino 201)." Kant matched honesty with morality, he understood that virtue would lead to happiness. When Kant spoke about honesty he took into count that things would be on equal playing fields. Although, he would want you to consider that you have a family to take care, you still have a moral obligation to take care of the people around you in need. You do not have the responsibility to help someone if you cannot help yourself, but if you can help yourself you are obligated to help others it is the right thing to do. Singer, would advise me to do what I need in order to help those kids who would have nowhere else to go. It would be my duty to help them, and the extra expenses I have gotten would not come into question. Singer, believes that you have to give to charity, and make sacrifices in order to be considered a moral person doing the right thing. That’s why out of all of these philosophers I feel as if Singer is the most correct one, he feels like we have a duty to support
