Comparison Of Old Capulet In Shakespeare's Romeo And Juliet
Old Capulet is Juliet’s father in Romeo and Juliet. In the beginning of the play, he seemed like a good parent. He wanted Juliet to live the best life she could. However, as the play moves along, he shows that he cares more about power and wealth than his own daughter. Because he loved himself more than Juliet, Lord Capulet was a bad father.
When Juliet told Capulet that she didn’t want to marry Paris, he threatens to disown her if she doesn’t do as he says. This is right after he yells and curses at her. He just treated her as if she were a dumb child because she didn’t want to marry what he thought was the best suitor in
Verona.
