Many people groups have suffered at the hands of others, and many continue to be abused and oppressed by others. Classic examples of people who have been oppressed are; African Americans based on the colour of their skin, the Afghans based on the terrorist groups stationed in Afghanistan, and the First Nations because the culture they held dear to them was not the cultural norm. These cultures have undergone enormous scrutiny from those around them, this scrutiny and judgement is a violation of the main principles of liberalism, liberty and equality.

The road labelled “Truth and Reconciliation” refers to the 4 year time frame where conferences were held across Canada in order to spread awareness for the tragedies that occurred at Canada’s Residential Schools. The source has a satirical tone because it shows that the Conservative party of Canada put forth an abundance of talk but never supported this talk with any action in order to support real change in Canada. The ideology represented in the source is quite liberal because of the belief many liberals have in creating equality among everyone, not just domestically. Whereas Conservatives lean more towards focusing resources domestically. The source demonstrates that in order to acquire change that is tangible in society the government must combine talk with action because without talk there will never be action and without action talk is only chatter that is soon
