I would like Peeta Mellark from the Hunger Games to play the new Beowulf. At first it may seem like an odd comparison but I have found characteristics that have lead me to my decision. Peeta is not the buff type like Beowulf but he is still strong. He is kind of looked over when it comes to strength but he can hold his own in a fight. Even though Beowulf is described as physically strong, Peeta could surprise his opponents by showing his strength during a fight. This could give him the upper hand when opponents like Grendel and the Dragon see him as weak and are not as guarded during battle. I like this characteristic because it would give the Beowulf character a more human-like aspect that people could relate to.
The second quality is the appearance of Beowulf. He is meant to be very attractive and wanted by most women and envied by all men. Peeta fits those qualities very well. He has blonde hair that is kept at a medium length. His face is described as very prominent features and a defined chin. His eyes are crystal blue with thick eyelashes. All of these qualities would make him very attractive to women of this century. He is also very tall and muscular, but not over-powering. This gives men a reason to be jealous of him but also envy his looks and mannerisms. For men of this century, they would see him as somebody they could picture themselves hanging out with.
The last quality is the mannerisms of the Beowulf character. In the old text, he is described as boastful, courageous, and heroic. Again I feel Peeta can fit these qualities plus some. One of Peeta’s qualities in the Hunger Games is he is very good with his words. Anytime he is in front of an
