wages. I wonder who decided what was reasonable. I don’t believe it really liberated them but I do believe that that it ensured that slavery was not dead but would nt be tolerated not to mention it would be a great accomplishment for Lincon. When the news started to spread everyone was excited. It was said in the north it wasn’t a shocker, being that the Northern states werent so strict. It was mentioned that they were elebrating in the streets, people were fainting and it was just a mighty mighty good time as my mom would say. In the sourthern parts it was so exciting. During the prelimary process of things the many people in the southern states moved to more secluded areas trying to ensure the slaves didn’t get the news. Although they made such strides they werent able to. When the slaves got word they celebrated on the inside in an effort not to make the confederates mad or give the incling that they were trying to rebel.
Today many African American still celebrate this joyous time. Its not a national hoilday but Juneteenth is the celebration of freedom. They celebrate this on June 19th. I have be honest this has been a very informtive passage . Ive never participated otr heard of anyone in my communty celebrating this time I look forward to finding celebrations in my community or even through my school.
The Emancipatio Proclamation wasn’t just a declaration but a movement . It was a process that took years to empliment and in my own opintion I think we as a society are still trying to work through things to fufil the reason the Emancipation was declared.
