To advance physical and intellectual competence...It is essential to the growth and development of every child to advance their physical and intellectual needs. Preschool age children have a short attention span. They learn by example, and learn by activities that are interesting to them. I keep their minds fresh by including fun games in the weekly lesson plan that improves their physical, cognitive and creative development. I do this on a daily basis. I sing songs, read books and talk about shapes, colors, numbers and letters.
I encourage all children to be active, especially, during outside play. I provide the children with opportunities to develop their upper body strength by rolling balls, swinging, and throwing bean bags. I also focus on running, jumping, and balancing to help strengthen their lower bodies. At the center, we come up with all sorts of active games to build up both gross and fine motor skills. I included a game called “Sleeping Giants” into my weekly plan that is a combination of pretend play and physical activity. The “Sleeping Giants” game stimulates imagination and multi-directional movement while strengthening their heart, lungs, muscles, and agility. During the game, children will use their large motor skills to run or jump while listening for me to say “Sleeping Giants”. When I call out, the children will try their hardest to stay quiet to represent a sleeping giant. Then when I call out “Walking Giants” the game continues and allows the children to be active and freely express themselves.

IN OUR CLASSROOM WE ENCOURAGE THEM TO USE THEIR CREATIVITY BY LETTING THEM USE THEIR IMAGINATION. WHEN WE READ FARM ANIMAL BOOKS WE USE PUPPETS TO HELP THEM UNDERSTAND WHAT THE ANIMALS LOOK LIKE AND THE SOUNDS THEY MAKE.THEY IMITATE THE SOUNDS AND ACTIONS OF THE

In order to establish and maintain a safe, healthy learning environment I first begin with providing a clean and organized classroom. All toys and equipment are sanitized on a daily basis, all outlets are covered and all fixtures are mounted to the walls to prevent from tipping over. Upon entering the classroom every parent is required to sign a daily health check in which the teacher and the parent both assess the health of each child. Healthy meals and snacks are provided to each and every child, keeping in mind, the allergies that each child has. Medicines are also carried for each student that requires it on a daily basis. The classroom tables are wiped down and sanitized and the floor is swept after each meal. The children also brush their teeth after meals to help the children gain healthy brushing habits. The teacher child ratio is maintained at all times.…

To advance physical and intellectual competence I provide various amounts of equipment and activities that help promote the physical development of children I do this by offering activities that will allow children to use their small muscles and large muscles. Children need these types of activities so they can become familiar about how to use their muscles and to develop body strength. Activities such as jumping, running, and balancing themselves will help them gain strength in lower parts of their bodies. These activities allow them to work with their gross motor skills. Activities such as painting, puzzles, writing, coloring allows them to use their fine motor skills. I try to encourage children to use their cognitive skills. I do this by having the children think about how to solve problems rather than simply asking question and receiving and answer. For example children asked “What happens if we bring a grasshopper into the classroom?” The children brought a grasshopper into classroom to see if it would hop around, make noise, move, or stay still. Then the children and I discussed why it moved or didn’t move. I keep activities interesting so that the children will want to learn and use their minds. In the classroom cognitive skills are used on a daily basis. I encourage children to be creative. To me children should have access to materials such as markers, crayons, paint, and pencils, and paper. By having these materials available will allow them to explore and be creative. I play music also sometimes play music in different languages. By playing the music it encourages them to dance and that is a way for children to use their gross motor…

To promote involvement and positive relationships with families and communities I believe that an open door policy is essential to have. I would do this by talking with the parents every day at drop off and pick up time. During the morning drop off time I would be able to find out how the previous afternoon went, if I wasn't there to see it myself, and how the child slept the previous night. I could also find out whether or not the child ate breakfast. During afternoon pick up time I would be able to tell the parent how the child's day went. I would also keep daily sheets for each child that would include bathroom breaks, what and how much the child ate throughout the day, as well as any concerns or questions I might have about the child. Another way I would keep the open door policy is by sending home a weekly newsletter informing the parents of what would be going on that week in the classroom. I would encourage parents to call the center or stop by to see how things are going for the child. I know that when parents are working they, often times, wonder about the child's day. By calling or stopping by they are able to peek in on the child and get updates are how the day is going. I would also encourage parents to attend any special event that the child is apart of, such as Christmas programs. The parents would, also, be more than welcome to have lunch with the child on his or her birthday if they are available to do so. I believe that, as a teacher, it is important to be the support system for the child while he or she is at school and while the parents are away at work. If the parents are working on something, such as using manners or potty training, I would be more than willing to help them by reinforcing that task while the child is at school. It is very important for both the child and the parents to have consistency in their daily routine. I believe that by…
