In the 1900s when policing was created they had to face many issues to make sure that they handle lowering crime rates. The police departments would find ways on how to prevent and solve crimes with the use of technology. Only in recent years have many agencies found the use of information technologies significantly helpful. Some examples of these technology uses include fingerprinting databases, computerized crime mapping, and records management systems doing everything from inventorying property and cataloging evidence to calculating solvability factors. I will provide some detailed examples as well as my own opinion of each category of how technology is used in policing and how technology enhances from police organizations ability to function; Examples of less than lethal weapons and how less than lethal weapons affect policing; and examples of the dangers faced by police and how police organizations address these dangers.…

The types of things that would be more supportive of my ongoing growth and development as a leader and person would be positive interactions with the people around me. When I work with people that I truly enjoy the company of, it doesn’t matter how grueling or uninteresting the work we are doing is. On the flip side, if I am around people that I don’t enjoy being around for whatever reason, I would hate the work I’m doing- even if it’s very easy. Being around a great supporting cast can really make a difference, especially when you have to spend 8+ hours a day with them- even if the work itself isn’t something you really enjoy. I would say this is because it really stimulates and motivates you.…

    Why We Dont Complain

    • 1898 Words

We don’t complain enough. Is the simply and unique argument that Buckley is presenting in his essay. The purpose of this essay is to convince Americans that it’s time to start complaining. Instead of simply pushing aside the issues that are present to us on a daily bases Buckley wants us to confront them head on and to simply speak up. Instead of dealing with hot trains, an unfocused movie screen and long line that is caused from a supposedly lazy worker, we should speak up because we have the power to change the little problems. Buckley is afraid that if we continue to show apathy towards small problems then we will continue this trend when faced with much larger conflicts that can be found in things such as our government. Buckley’s thesis is that we should speak up when we aren’t satisfied, or don’t agree with something, essentially complain more often, because if we don’t complain it can lead to us entering an apathy coma that will cause the American to blindly accept an issue because we choose not to exert the will power to fix it. Some of his suggestion as to why we don’t complain is include: we assume someone will, we don’t know why its wasn’t done in the first place so we don’t question it, we just don’t want to cause a fuss, we think our opinion doesn’t matter, or we receive peer pressure from others not to complain.…

Conflict is something we all ex prince at one point or another in our life time. According to our author, “Conflict is a part of every interpersonal relationship,...” (DeVito, 2008-2009, p.286). Since people have different views, conflict, a disagreement, is something we all must learn to deal with. The conflict I choose to write about involves a conflict I encountered with my ex-girlfriend a while ago.…

You know, I sure am glad to live in a world where we’ve got super heroes like Superman, Batman and the Flash. Honestly, having them around makes life so easy, I barely have to do a thing for myself. Someone robbed me? Superman will catch the bad guy and return what was taken. Oil starts leaking into the sea? Not a problem with Aquaman or Aqualad! With these defenders of the depths, you can bet your barnacles that they won't sit by and allow oil to spill into our oceans. Stupid logging companies destroying our forests for the sake of something like money? Well, she may not be a hero but Poison Ivy will most certainly have none of that. Sure she might kill everyone involved with the logging company and attempt to create a utopian society for plant life, but hey, as long as someone gives a crap about the environment and it doesn’t cost us taxpayers anything, someone will do something about it without getting involved in politics right? Oh wait, NO! The world doesn’t work like that. We don’t have superheroes around to clean up after their or our messes and defend the world from all sorts of evil. The only things we can rely on are ourselves. If only the people of Montana could see the reality of that though. Writer Jared Diamond, author of Collapse: How Societies Choose to Fall or Succeed, spends an entire chapter of his book describing the struggles of Montana. This is done to illustrate the division of the state’s people and presumably how close we Americans are to a societal collapse ourselves. In order to show this, he describes the problems they face with issues like mining, government regulation, population growth and development and subdivision of agricultural land. Now Mr. Diamond might put on this façade of being completely indifferent while he sees and sides with both those nutty environmentalists and those cold hearted big businessmen, but I can see right through this…

Dear Director,We are residing at Old stockage room 5304. One of our housemate (5304-1) is very inconsiderate. She switches on the TV very loud (TV just beside my room) and the volume is deafening. Even one of my roommates room (5304-5), which is situated near the main door can hear the noise. She also always turns on her loud speakers enjoying the music without closing her door. Besides, in the middle of the night, this girl will go into the guy room (5304-2) situated in between my room (5304-4) and room (5304-2). There will be noise and loud laughter in the middle of the night. My (5304-2) roommate and I had told them and requested them to lower their noise level but they just continue and ignored us. These have affected our sleep and also our mood. Sometimes, the next day, she purposely switched on the music in her room even louder without even closing the door. Furthermore, she also caused danger to other roommates by leaving the place and turning on the microwave for more than 45mins. Hearing the word “conflict” does not always arouse the most positive feelings. It brings uneasiness, and, in some cases fear. But, in literature, conflict is a necessary ingredient to a well formed story. The tension and uncertainty of conflict engulfs the reader making them more interested in the outcome. In Alice Munro’s “An Ounce of Cure,” the teenager struggles in her adolescent life to find her identity, in “The Story of an Hour,” Louise wrestles with her own emotions, and finally in “The Chaser,” Alan is conflicted with his desires for love. Each story mentioned contains unique forms of conflict.…

A true teacher is not someone who just teaches lessons to his/her students. Rather, a teacher is like a guide, who helps the students in each and every sphere of life, by giving the right advice. They are our future makers. All the great achievers in the world have come to this level because of their teachers. Without them, these great achievers would also have been like a blank sheet of paper.…
